Beautiful Cornwall Wedding whatever the time of year!

Who says you need to get married in the Summer? With beautiful autumn colours and crisp winter days you can still have your perfect day whatever the time of year!

Wedding Flowers CornwallThe majority of people think that summer is the only time of year to get married. With British weather being notoriously bad during the rest of the year, an autumn or winter wedding seems like a bad idea. However, that just isn’t true! Your big day can
take place any time and still be a wonderful and beautiful event.

At Launcells Barton, we’ve made sure that our venue is suitable for weddings all year round. So whether you’re after a winter wedding or a summer ceremony, we can help.

So what makes us an all-season wedding venue?

Multiple buildings

We have a choice of three indoor locations for you to say “I do”. Regardless of the weather outside, inside you and your guests will be warm, dry and having a wonderful time.
For intimate ceremonies the manor house is the ideal venue and for larger parties, the mill barn is perfect, without fear of the season interrupting your special moment.

Barn Wedding Ceremony Cornwall

Blank canvas

Launcells Barton is a blank canvas. You can decorate it as you wish, which means that it’s appearance and style is completely compatible with seasonal stylings.
A winter wonderland can easily be created in the same space that hosted a summer festival theme wedding. There really are no limits on what you can do!

Outdoor options

If the heavens aren’t opening, then there’s always the option to have an outdoor ceremony at Launcells Barton. Even in the autumn, winter, and spring months we have days withowedding venue cornwallut rain, so wrap up and tie the knot in our beautiful walled garden.
Tended all year round with seasonal plants, the walled garden is the perfect setting to exchange vows and take photos.

Rooms filled with light

Whilst you may not be lucky enough to have a dry day, our mill barn allows you to bring the outdoors indoors on your wedding day.
Large French doors let natural light flood the room, making it feel open and airy, even if it is tipping it down outside.

Extra space

We are lucky enough to have 220 acres for you to enjoy! If you are opting to get married in the warmer months or don’t mind wrapping up for an autumnal evening and want to make the most of the outside, then why not treat your guests to an open wood- fired oven on the field in front of the events barn? Your guests can enjoy some delicious food while watching the sunset behind the rolling countryside. Beautiful!

Whatever time of year, your wedding will be personal to the both of you!

What a night to celebrate our Newly Opened Wedding Venue in Cornwall!

A few weeks ago we had a big end of season party for everyone that has been a part of our first year! There are so many people that have worked their socks off to make our first year happen and who went above and beyond to make it possible!

We had builders, plumbers, electricians, work men- and women, who stayed late into the night and sometimes early morning, giving up their weekends – even bringing their children in to work with them in some cases, just so we could be ready for our first weddings! There were many nights where I would be running around taking food orders from everyone as we were all still working late, or times where I would be stood at the aga with a line of work men waiting for bacon sandwiches as they had come in at the weekend and needed to be well fed!

There was such a great atmosphere on site throughout the whole first phase of our build, with everyone laughing and joking and music blaring out all over the place. My personal favourite was hearing all the builders singing along to material girl!

Wedding Venue Cornwall

It wasn’t just the work force that made our first year happen though, but also wedding industry professionals who gave us so much help and advice along the way and supported us on our first few weddings! Always at the end of a phone too giving us a pep talk when we needed it the most!

Wedding Venue Cornwall

So, to thank everyone and show how much we appreciate everything everyone did, we had a “Big Thank You Party” to end our very first wedding season!

Below is a picture taken at our party of all our builders, plumbers, electricians, maintenance guys and farm workers who worked on the renovation works! It took a lot of people to make it look the way it does today!

Mark Devosnhire from the amazing woodfired kitchen provided the catering for the evening. He put together a spectacular selection of rustic woodfired pizzas, along with shoulders of lamb, handmade cumin pitta breads and spiced potatoes! All I could hear all evening were people saying how much they enjoyed the food! It was wonderful having smells of the wood fire and delicious food wafting around the courtyard! – a great idea for future brides and grooms!

The evening’s music was kicked off by local musical maestro Bradley Cook, who performed a beautiful acoustic set in the Mill Barn, I think it’s safe to say that Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” went down very well!

Wedding Venues Cornwall

The night ended with Inspired Party getting all the builders up on the dance floor and busting some moves to a few classic 90’s hip hop tunes… I think “Cotton Eye Joe” may even have got an outing too if I remember correctly…well we are in Cornwall after all!!

Wedding Venue Cornwall

We have now closed for weddings over the autumn and winter months as we build our brand new events barn ready to re-open next April. We are still open for show around appointments and have a few dates still available in 2017, so get in touch!

Look out for all the updates and build news on our Facebook page and blog!

Beautiful September Wedding with a Sunset Tractor ride in Cornwall

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of hosting the wedding of Lizzie & Tom. We first met Lizzie back in January when she travelled over from Australia to start planning their wedding in Cornwall. Tom didn’t see Launcells Barton until May of this year but had complete trust in Lizzie’s vision of what the day was going to look like. Since Lizzie’s first visit we kept in contact with them regularly. They were so excited to visit Launcells Barton every few months, and as building works progressed, they were able to envisage their dream day more and more.

Lizzie and Tom are both resident Doctors in Australia, with Lizzie working in a busy ER and Tom working in the Intensive Care Unit at their local hospital. Tom has family close by in Cornwall, while Lizzie’s family live in the South East of England. With some family members unable to make the journey to Australia, the couple decided to have their wedding back home, surrounded by their friends and family.

Wedding Venue Cornwall

Lizzie and Tom first met while at university and soon became inseparable, sharing each others love of adventure! The couple are keen travellers and rack up many air miles travelling all over the world! Each table of their seating plan was even named after their favourite beaches from their many travels together, each one having a sentimental meaning!

The morning of the wedding Lizzie got ready in the house with her bridesmaids. They all looked fabulous in their matching floral pyjamas! Tom spent the night with his friends at a nearby hotel – I don’t think they all had matching floral pyjamas, but they did have some rather funky, colourful socks on for the occasion!

Lizzie and Tom were married at St Swithins church, which is just down the path from Launcells Barton house. After walking up from the church, they followed their ceremony with drinks and canapés in the courtyard.

The couple and their close friends had so much fun going off for photos while guests were enjoying drinks.

Lizzie and Tom’s wedding was certainly international! Not only had all their university friends traveled from across Europe to be with them, but they had over 50 doctors attending their wedding, some of whom had traveled from as far away as Australia and New Zealand to be with them on their special day!

The couple were able to sneak off into the garden for some quick photos, while all their guests were taking their seats for the wedding breakfast in the Mill barn.

The couple chose from one of our recommended suppliers Beautiful and the Feast to caterer for their wedding. They were kind enough to plate us up a selection too and i have to say the food was so good it was out of this world!

Beautiful and the Feast food

This wedding was so much fun to be apart of, as you could really feel that the day was a real celebration of the couple and every detail was personal to them. Lizzie’s best friend even got everyone involved in making a video about the couple and their wasn’t a dry eye in sight, even from us!

Wedding speeches lizzie-video

Lizzie and Tom really wanted to have some time together just the two of them, so Matt offered to drive them to the top of the farm in our tractor so they could watch the sunset over the sea. They told us afterwards that they were so glad that they had taken that time and it really had made their day! Tom was asking Matt on the drive if it is difficult driving such a er….” vintage” tractor, so Matt said “see for yourself” and let Tom drive his new Bride back to the party Cornish style!

These absolutely stunning images were taken by the Oli from McGivern Photography, who is actually relatively new to the wedding world of photography, but is clearly amazing! The images have captured the day so perfectly and Oli really did think outside the box when looking for original and creative ideas. Oli even came the day before and went for a walk around the farm scoping out the perfect locations. Lizzie and Tom were so happy to go with his -at times- crazy ideas, but i have to hand it to him, they are simply breathtaking!

Lizzie and Tom have taken a much needed rest and have jetted off on a 3 month honeymoon travelling around South America! Since their wedding they have already been trekking in jungles and national parks around Columbia!

We wish them every happiness as they enter into married life together and thank them and their family for welcoming us in to their celebrations, even encouraging Matt and I to take part in their cultural traditions and enjoy a drink with them all!

The Perfect August Wedding in Cornwall

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of holding Jessica & Matthew’s beautiful outdoor wedding and what a beautiful wedding it was! Jessica and Matthew live in London, so we kept in contact a lot over the months leading up to their wedding to make sure their day ran as smoothly as possible. We really got to know Jessica, Matthew and all their family during the lead up to their wedding, so we were so delighted to be apart of their special day and watch as they took their next step together.

It was great helping Matthew & Jessica set up the day before and seeing all their ideas coming together. Emma from Brompton buds created the most beautiful flower wreath for the  Mill Barn. Jessica styled the tables with large gold candelabras and simple jars of sweet peas, which looked absolutely stunning as the wax melted during the meal.

Jessica got ready in the bridal suite with her sister, bridesmaid and mother close by her side, I had the privilege of seeing the breathtaking flower crown unveiled and being positioned perfectly in place on the Bride. Jessica looked truly stunning in a simple classic gown, finished beautifully with an elegant lace cathedral length veil.

Matthew & Jessica had a celebrant wedding, which was just so personal to the both of them. It was great to hear about special moments that they had shared together during their relationship. wedding venue cornwall

After the ceremony, Matthew and Jessica took some time just the two of them. I always think it’s such a great idea. A wedding can be so busy, that it really is important to try and find some time away and enjoy time together.

After drinks in the courtyard it was time for all their guests to takes their seats. Matthew is a self-confessed pie connoisseur, so Good Food Catering put together an amazing menu, taking into account all the different dietary requirements and Matthew’s favourite fillings! It was then out into the courtyard for mini “make your own” eaton mess!

The evening was so relaxed. All the children loved the outdoor space, playing and jumping around on the hay bales, while the Bride and Groom mingled with their friends and family as the evening entertainment was being set up. We really enjoyed getting to know their guests, who had heard so much about Launcells Barton and wanted to know all about the history and renovations.

Matthew & Jessica chose Andrew from Travers and Brown to capture their special day and he really did get some amazing natural shots of the day. He even used the old calf pens and barns for stunning backdrops for the couple. There are so many different places on the farm, so it’s great to see different peoples ideas and creativity!

It truly was a perfect day and we wish Jessica and Matthew every happiness as they start their married life together!

Weather proofing your wedding in Cornwall

On a regular day we can adjust our outfits, plans, and location to suit the weather, but when it comes to the day you’ve been planning for months, your wedding in Cornwall, some things can’t be changed.

The British weather is notoriously unpredictable, and even if you pick a date in the middle of the summer there’s always a chance you’ll get some rain on your wedding day. Luckily, there are some things you can do to weather-proof your wedding. We may not be able to change the weather, but we can ensure that you still have a fantastic day, come rain or shine.

Know your options

It is important to have a backup plan if you intend on having your ceremony outdoors. At Launcells Barton, we have three indoor venues. Because the entire site is yours for your wedding, there will be no problem in moving indoors. Keeping an eye on the forecast and staying in touch with your venue will allow them to make any necessary changes Launcells Barton - Wedding Venues Cornwallin advance. This will keep the morning of your wedding stress free, leaving you to relax and enjoy the day without having to think about us moving things around.

Photos don’t have to be outside

Whilst your heart may be set on photos in the grounds or in the walled garden, bad weather may stop this from being possible. Luckily, we have the exquisite manor house which can be used for photos. If you’re worried about the weather affecting your photos, have a chat with your photographer and come up with a plan of back up locations for your shoot.

Get glamorous with umbrellas

Cornwall wedding venue - Umbrellas

Umbrellas aren’t the most elegant things in the world, but sometimes they are a necessity. Invest in a few clear, large umbrellas for the bride and bridesmaids to ensure a dry arrival. After a morning of hair and make-up they won’t want it ruined by rain, particularly if it could have been prevented.
Don’t forget, umbrellas needn’t be dull like the weather, why not get creative and use them as accessories? Pick some pastel shades or throw in a selection of classy coloured parasols, not only do they look great in photos, they’ll brighten those gloomy skies!

Weather wedding Venues Cornwall - Umbrella

Don your wellies!

Whether you’re travelling to Launcells Barton from near or far, Wellington boots go hand-in-hand with umbrellas, so embrace the weather and wear your pair of wellies with pride — Launcells Barton is a former dairy farm after all!

Create an ‘emergency’ kit

Wind, rain, and heat can all damage the bride’s beautiful hair and make-up. Ask your make-up artist and hairdresser for advice on what products and items you should keep at hand should the weather take a turn for the worse. Make sure your bridesmaids know where the kit is at all times should you need some help!

Stay hydrated

As well as rainy weather, we can occasionally have incredibly hot days. Mixing heat with excitement and alcohol can cause more problems than good, so make sure you have a large selection of soft drinks and water so you and your guests can stay hydrated throughout the day.

Don’t worry!

You can waste hours and hours worrying about whether the sun will be out on the big day, but all that really matters is that you’re marrying the person you love. No matter what the weather is like, you’ll still have a fun and memorable day. If it tips it down with rain laugh it off, you’ll probably still be laughing in years to come!

A perfect day at our wedding venue in Cornwall

We did it!

This weekend we welcomed in our very first wedding here at the Launcells Barton wedding venue in Cornwall and our very first Launcells Barton Bride, just so happened to be my friend Rosie and her lovely groom Leigh. I was honoured to be Maid of Honour and be able to share their special day with them. It was so lovely to be apart of the bridal party, for our very first wedding and was amazing to see the place through the eyes of a guest. The sun was shinning and it was an absolutely magical day!

Rosie got ready with all her friends and family around her, in the private bridal suite and I think we can all agree she looked truly beautiful in her vintage lace ball gown.

The place was filled with gorgeous blooms by the amazingly talented Emma from Brompton Buds. Jars filled with beautiful pinks and greens hung from shepard’s hooks & lined the Aisle, while the wooden arbor was entwined with flowers and framed the couple beautifully!

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed welcome drinks in the Courtyard and relaxed on hay bales outside our rustic bar which is hidden just under the Mill Barn!

Rosie decorated the Mill Barn beautifully, with dusky muted tones and country garden flowers, adding so much attention to detail with special personalised gifts for everyone. Each seat was decorated with a hessian and lace sash, which were all handmade by the Bride! They also hung festoon lighting from the beams which made the barn look absolutely enchanting!

Rosie & Leigh had afternoon tea in the barn and then encouraged guests outside into the courtyard for Cornish ice cream, a pig roast and a mobile pizzeria! I think its safe to say that no one went hungry!

Rosie chose Rebecca Roundhill to capture her special day and as you can see, she certainly didn’t disappoint! The photo’s speak for themselves and are simply breathtaking, but it’s Rebecca’s professionalism on the day, that really made these photos so beautiful! Rebecca went above and beyond to capture the very best photos for Rosie and Leigh, even climbing over bushes & fences to get that perfect shot!

The evening was kicked off by inspired Party who have an amazing set up with their rustic themed DJ booth.

The whole day went perfectly and we were so pleased to welcome in a new chapter at Launcells Barton. It has been such hard work getting the place to this stage and a lot of people behind the scenes have made it happen. We’ve had builders, plumbers ,workmen (and women) here until midnight helping us get everything ready, we have called in friends to help plant flowers, family friends have given up their weekends to help limewash the barn, friends have even dropped everything last minute & come along with a baby strapped to their front to help set up the bar!  We really couldn’t have done it without everyones support, so from all the team at Launcells Barton, a massive THANK YOU to everyone that has helped make our dream a reality!

Six things you may want to know about our wedding venue in Cornwall

Wedding Venues Cornwall - Launcells Barton

There’s no denying that Cornwall is a beautiful and special place. With miles of gorgeous countryside and hundreds of perfect areas, Cornwall is definitely one of the best places in the country to get married.

But it isn’t just a beautiful location that makes Launcells Barton the ideal venue for your wedding in Cornwall. Steeped in history, this family owned manor house is unique in many ways. Here are just a few things that make Launcells Barton so special.

History

Dating back to the 14th Century, Launcells Barton is a Grade II listed house. It has been owned by the same family for over 70 years and has been restored with lots of love and care.

Architecture

The manor house itself is made up of two halves. This means that there are varying architectural details throughout making it a very unique building. The barrelled ceiling in the Bridal Suite, reveals where the monks’ chapel was – it dates back to the reign of King Henry VIII! There are also remains of monk prayer cells in the kitchen ceiling.

The purpose built Events Barn has been created with care to compliment the original house, whilst having all the modern necessities.

Similarly, the converted 19th Century Mill Barn has been lovingly renovated. The new large French doors reveal stunning views of the countryside and the beautiful exposed beams give height to the barn.

Staying at Launcells

As part of your package, the happy couple will have full use of the house along with ten close friends or family. Our beautiful Bridal Suite allows luxury and privacy for the newlyweds, whilst guests can enjoy four double bedrooms and a twin room.
They can also enjoy a hamper filled with handpicked local treats for the duration of their stay.

Outdoors

Away from the beautiful house and gorgeous barns, we have a large walled garden and courtyard which provide the perfect backdrop to ceremonies, drinks, and photos. The original archway has been reinstated to create an idyllic entrance and the gardens are filled with carefully tended seasonal blooms.

Choice

Unlike other venues, Launcells Barton has a variety of places where you can say “I do”. Embrace the exterior beauty of the house as you exchange vows at the top of the steps, or have an intimate ceremony in the sitting room. You can also get married in our Mill Barn as your friends and family watch on. As well as this, the walled garden and courtyard can be used as they have a custom-built licensed arbour and seating area.

But the choice doesn’t stop at the ceremony. For your reception you can party through the night in the Events Barn or gardens. As well as these areas, you can also use the adjacent land for marquees, tepees, and yurts.

Exclusivity

When you book your wedding at Launcells Barton, you’ll receive full exclusive use of our venue for the duration of your stay. Even if you’re having a large gathering, Launcells is still the ultimate exclusive and intimate wedding venue in Cornwall.

Five things to consider when planning your wedding in Cornwall

wedding-venues-cornwall

You’ve got the ring, set the date, and created the ultimate wedding Pinterest board – now it’s time to start planning.

Before you get carried away with ideas of the what the ‘ideal’ wedding in cornwall should look like, there are a few important things you should consider. Ultimately, it is you and your partner’s special day and having a wedding that reflects your style and tastes is the most important thing.

With this in mind, we’ve created a list of 5 things that should be considered before, and during, planning.

What will the venue look like on your big day?

One top tip is to re-visit your wedding venue at the same time of year as your planned date. If you’ve set a date in July, going back the spot where you’ll say “I do” during the Summer months will give you a good idea of what to expect visually.

As leaves change with the seasons, so does the look and atmosphere of the venue. Viewing in the correct season can also lead to colour palette inspiration. Autumn at Launcells Barton brings out beautiful shades of deep red as the leaves turn, whilst Summer in Cornwall is full of colour and lush greenery.

What’s available in the local area?

Cornwall and Devon is filled to the brim with wonderful caterers, florists, and photographers so make the most of what they have to offer.

Keeping it close to Bude gives your day that extra authentic touch. With so many options of suppliers in the local area you won’t need to go anywhere else! We even have a list of recommended suppliers to help you pick the best of the best.

The size of your party

Your guest list may be small or big, but either way it’s important to keep numbers in mind when planning your big day.

At Launcells Barton we’re very flexible and able to facilitate weddings of all sizes and understand that the amount of guests can make a difference to particular decisions. Having a small cake and 200 RSVPs? Planning an intimate gathering of 10 people and booked a lavish symphony orchestra? Being aware of your party size when making bookings will help you make appropriate decisions.

The location

Everyone wants to get married in a gorgeous location, but why not use the surrounding beauty to influence the look of your big day? Launcells Barton is set amongst peaceful wooded countryside and provides a magical backdrop for photos and ceremonies.

We’re also a short distance from the stunning north coast of Cornwall. The seaside town of Bude will provide ample nautical and Cornish inspiration for brides and grooms.

What do YOU want?

Amongst the glossy magazines, Pinterest boards, and family input it can be easy to lose sight of what you actually want your big day to be like. Remember, it is a day for you and your partner to celebrate your love and marriage. Let yourself have the theme and style you want, and share it with the people you love.

If you’d like to talk about planning your wedding at Launcells Barton then give us a call on 01288 352352 or email hello@launcellsbarton.co.uk

Our Brand New Wedding & Events Reception Barn will open April 2017!

We are so pleased to be able to finally announce that our brand new reception barn will be opening it’s doors for the first time next April! Let us tell you a little more about our wedding venue in Cornwall.

Launcells Barton - Events Barn - Wedding Venues Bude, CornwallThe reception barn will be able to seat 200 guests comfortably and has a separate bar/ lounge, which can either be partitioned off or opened up. There will also be a kitchen for your caterers to use, reducing the need and cost to you for hiring in a catering tent and equipment.

We have worked really hard on the design of the New Events Barn and have designed it in such a way, that your guests can access the bar and reception lobby, without entering the main seating area, so that you keep the unveiling of your wedding breakfast a surprise, until everyone takes their seats! After all you have spent all that time making it look amazing, you don’t want people popping through to use the bathroom and seeing it!

We don’t want to lose the character of Launcells Barton in the new barn, which is why we are using where ever possible, re-claimed items from the farm. The partition for example, between the bar & the seating area will be reclaimed timber from the old barns & we even have an old maghonay organ which we are using as a drinks cabinet for the bar! The bar it’s self will even be made of all re-claimed wood too!

Although the main seating area will be very neutral, so that couples can decorate it however they wish, we will have a Launcells Barton feel in the bar/ Lounge. We will be including both the Georgian house & the barns into our new space, by combining English Country Gent with Rustic Farm, creating the perfect atmosphere to enjoy drinks and relax throughout your special day!

Follow the progress of our new barn and all the goings on at Launcells Barton by liking our Facebook page!

If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Cornwall for 2017 or 2018 please get in touch by either emailing us at hello@launcellsbarton.co.uk or give us a call on 01288 352352. We look forward to hearing from you!

Trees, trees, trees – our biomass wedding venue!

This week we have been cutting down lots of trees to get ready for our new biomass boiler that is being installed soon! It was all hands on deck- even little ones!

Tractor on the farm
We are installing central heating into the house and barns soon, so need to make sure we have enough wood ready to go when its all up and ready! As many of you know the house at the moment has no central heating and is very cold without all the fires roaring. Although we will be putting a wood burner into the sitting room and keeping the open fire in the dinning room, we can’t expect our guests to start fires every morning and keep them going throughout the day – they will be far too busy enjoying their wedding! so we need to make sure the house is nice and toasty for our winter weddings.

We have acres of woodland on the farm, so have just acquired our felling license to coppice trees, so that we can self sustain our biomass boiler. We also have a thinning license to open up the area at the front of the house by the pond.

We also had to take down this big fella as it was pushing out our wall. We had to get the professionals in for this one though, as it was not for those with a phobia of heights! The tree surgeons were climbing and swinging on ropes like acrobats! It was amazing to watch and certainly involved a lot of skill!Tree to cut down

Hopefully the next time you visit us here at Launcells Barton, you will see how much lighter the farm looks now that the trees have been tamed!
