Beautiful May Wedding in the Cornish Countryside!

On a glorious sunny day in May, Mark and Lucia married in front of all their loved ones at St Swithins church, just a short walk from the house.

We’ve know Mark for many years; he supports us on understanding the complex world of Google, so when he told us he had proposed to his beautiful wife to be and could only imagine Launcells Barton for the big day, we felt very honoured indeed!

Mark and Lucia decided they didn’t want a long engagement and, luckily for them, we had one date left in 2019! Using our fantastic recommend suppliers, Lucia and Mark brought together their beautiful, stress free day perfectly!

On the morning of their big day Lucia was joined in the Bridal Suite by her friends and family as Lizzy Couch MUA and Kylee-Marie Hair got everyone ready for the Church. It was so lovely and relaxed when I popped in to see how everything was going – just how a wedding morning should be!

Mark and all their guests made their way to St Swithins church and once I was sure everyone had taken their seats and no one would see Lucia leaving the house, we all made our way down, scooping her beautiful lace dress up, making sure it was perfect for when she saw Mark for the first time!   Country Wedding Venues Cornwall Exclusive Use Wedding Venues Cornwall Church Ceremony wedding Cornwall Church wedding Cornwall

After their ceremony the happy couple were welcomed by a cascade of confetti as they made their way back up to Launcells Barton for their welcome drinks reception, where their band were playing as guests arrived. Exclusive Use wedding Venues Cornwall and Devon Exclusive Use wedding Venues Cornwall and Devon

Before we invited guests to take their seats in the reception barn for their meal, Lucia and Mark had family photos in the garden, before going off for a few moments by themselves.

The Reception Barn had been beautifully decorated the day before by Bleujen, with foliage and a mix of pink and white flowers hanging from the centre beam, while the tables looked simply elegant with vases full of flowers and candles. The newlyweds were beaming as we announced them in for their meal, which was catered by the amazing Woodfired Kitchen.

Everyone celebrated with Mark and Lucia as they cut their cake and enjoyed their first dance together, before everyone was welcomed to join the newlyweds on the dance floor! Mark and Lucia then took a bit of time together to take it all in and made the most of the incredible sunset!

A few words from the Groom! “I wanted to say thanks so much to yourself and Matt for all your help and for letting us share our day at the amazing venue you’ve built over the last few years.  We’ll both remember the day for the rest of our lives and it couldn’t have gone better! Launcells Barton has something a little magical about it – as soon as we visited we soon knew it was the one for us.  We’d always wanted to get married in a church, so the proximity to one of the prettiest in Cornwall was an added bonus to the stunning manor house and countryside location. All of our family and friends had the most wonderful day and will remember it for a long, long time”

Congratulations again to Mark and Lucia! It was a joy seeing the both of you celebrating your special day surrounded by your loved ones! Thank you for letting us be a part of it!

Floral Inspiration for your Wedding at Launcells Barton

Sometimes it’s the little things in life that make a big difference, and that definitely applies to your wedding day; from the beautiful bouquet for the bride to a stunning archway adorning the top table at your wedding reception, the flowers and floristry on your big day are something you can really make your own and definitely help to create that ‘wow’ factor.

No matter if you’re a green-fingered gardener or couldn’t tell a peony from a primrose, here’s a little inspiration from some of our previous couples…

Our Mill Barn

If you’re wanting to get married in our beautifully converted 19th Century stone-built Mill Barn, the world really is your oyster when it comes to floristry.  As a blank canvas you can choose to keep things minimal, perhaps paying attention to those little details like the end of aisles and registry table, or making a big statement with an archway under which you say ‘I do’.

Getting married in the garden

There’s something very special about Launcells Barton when the sun is shining.  From the Cornish countryside that just looks a little greener, to the beautiful sunset over the sea, it’s easy to understand why so many of our couples choose to get married outside.

The great news here is that you’re already being married surrounded by nature’s wonderful and ever-changing canvas, but here’s how some of our couples have used floristry to make their ceremony jaw-droppingly unique…

Church weddings

If you’re getting married in the nearby Parish Church of St Swithin’s, you’ll have an incredibly romantic backdrop for whatever floristry you choose. Why not mark the moment you enter the church with a floral archway? How about adorning the 12th Century stone pillars with ivy for a rustic and traditional feel? Or a beautiful floral decoration at the alter? Here’s a little more inspiration to get your mind going…

Your reception

Our Reception Barn is a complete blank canvas so you really can make it the reception of your dreams. Have you pictured a hanging arrangement that becomes a real feature of the room and takes people’s breath away? Perhaps an archway for the top table? The most beautiful colours on your tables? Here are some of our recent favourites…

Not sure where to start?

Don’t panic if you don’t know where to start when it comes to your flowers. We’re lucky to have some great local florists who will be able to take your ideas and make them a reality.  No matter if you’re travelling from afar or living locally, all of our suppliers are here to help make your day the one you’ve always dreamed of.
