A few weeks ago we had a big end of season party for everyone that has been a part of our first year! There are so many people that have worked their socks off to make our first year happen and who went above and beyond to make it possible!
We had builders, plumbers, electricians, work men- and women, who stayed late into the night and sometimes early morning, giving up their weekends – even bringing their children in to work with them in some cases, just so we could be ready for our first weddings! There were many nights where I would be running around taking food orders from everyone as we were all still working late, or times where I would be stood at the aga with a line of work men waiting for bacon sandwiches as they had come in at the weekend and needed to be well fed!
There was such a great atmosphere on site throughout the whole first phase of our build, with everyone laughing and joking and music blaring out all over the place. My personal favourite was hearing all the builders singing along to material girl!
It wasn’t just the work force that made our first year happen though, but also wedding industry professionals who gave us so much help and advice along the way and supported us on our first few weddings! Always at the end of a phone too giving us a pep talk when we needed it the most!
So, to thank everyone and show how much we appreciate everything everyone did, we had a “Big Thank You Party” to end our very first wedding season!
Below is a picture taken at our party of all our builders, plumbers, electricians, maintenance guys and farm workers who worked on the renovation works! It took a lot of people to make it look the way it does today!
Mark Devosnhire from the amazing woodfired kitchen provided the catering for the evening. He put together a spectacular selection of rustic woodfired pizzas, along with shoulders of lamb, handmade cumin pitta breads and spiced potatoes! All I could hear all evening were people saying how much they enjoyed the food! It was wonderful having smells of the wood fire and delicious food wafting around the courtyard! – a great idea for future brides and grooms!
The evening’s music was kicked off by local musical maestro Bradley Cook, who performed a beautiful acoustic set in the Mill Barn, I think it’s safe to say that Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” went down very well!
The night ended with Inspired Party getting all the builders up on the dance floor and busting some moves to a few classic 90’s hip hop tunes… I think “Cotton Eye Joe” may even have got an outing too if I remember correctly…well we are in Cornwall after all!!
We have now closed for weddings over the autumn and winter months as we build our brand new events barn ready to re-open next April. We are still open for show around appointments and have a few dates still available in 2017, so get in touch!
Look out for all the updates and build news on our Facebook page and blog!
