On a glorious sunny day in May, Mark and Lucia married in front of all their loved ones at St Swithin’s Church, just a short walk from the house.

We’ve known Mark for many years; he supports us on understanding the complex world of Google, so when he told us he had proposed to his beautiful wife to be and could only imagine Launcells Barton for the big day, we felt very honoured indeed!

Mark and Lucia decided they didn’t want a long engagement and, luckily for them, we had one date left in 2019! Using our fantastic recommend suppliers, Lucia and Mark brought together their beautiful, stress free day perfectly!

On the morning of their big day Lucia was joined in the Bridal Suite by her friends and family as Lizzy Couch MUA and Kylee-Marie Hair got everyone ready for the church. It was so lovely and relaxed when I popped in to see how everything was going – just how a wedding morning should be!

Mark and all their guests made their way to St Swithin’s Church and once I was sure everyone had taken their seats and no one would see Lucia leaving the house, we all made our way down, scooping her beautiful lace dress up, making sure it was perfect for when she saw Mark for the first time!

After their ceremony the happy couple were welcomed by a cascade of confetti as they made their way back up to Launcells Barton for their welcome drinks reception, where their band were playing as guests arrived.

Before we invited guests to take their seats in the reception barn for their meal, Lucia and Mark had family photos in the garden, before going off for a few moments by themselves.

The Reception Barn had been beautifully decorated the day before by Bleujen, with foliage and a mix of pink and white flowers hanging from the centre beam, while the tables looked simply elegant with vases full of flowers and candles. The newlyweds were beaming as we announced them in for their meal, which was catered by the amazing Woodfired Kitchen.

After their speeches everyone mingled outside as the band got set up ready for the party to begin!

Everyone celebrated with Mark and Lucia as they cut their cake and enjoyed their first dance together, before everyone was welcomed to join the newlyweds on the dance floor! Mark and Lucia then took a bit of time together to take it all in and made the most of the incredible sunset!

A few words from the Groom! “I wanted to say thanks so much to yourself and Matt for all your help and for letting us share our day at the amazing venue you’ve built over the last few years.  We’ll both remember the day for the rest of our lives and it couldn’t have gone better! Launcells Barton has something a little magical about it – as soon as we visited we soon knew it was the one for us.  We’d always wanted to get married in a church, so the proximity to one of the prettiest in Cornwall was an added bonus to the stunning manor house and countryside location. All of our family and friends had the most wonderful day and will remember it for a long, long time”

Congratulations again to Mark and Lucia! It was a joy seeing the both of you celebrating your special day surrounded by your loved ones! Thank you for letting us be a part of it!

Last October we were blessed with gorgeous sunny days and Annie, Ben and all their guests enjoyed basking in the sunshine with a drink in their hand!

We met Annie and Ben a year previous to their wedding, they were so relaxed and easy going about their day, that we knew their day would be full of friends, family and lots of laughter!

Annie, Ben and a some very dedicated family members, decorated the venue the day before by hanging huge branches from the beams and filling them with gold leaves and festoon lighting to give a beautiful autumnal feel to their day.

Annie got ready in the Bridal Suite and looked stunning in a simple flowing gown. Kylee Marie perfected her hair with gold leaves to finish off a simple yet stunningly elegant look.

Ben enjoyed the sunshine with his ushers, welcoming guests as they arrived, before everyone took their seats in the Mill Barn ready for their ceremony.  The Cornish Celebrants conducted the couple’s ceremony, as they wanted to combine religious beliefs that were important to Annie’s family, along with personal touches and vows to make the ceremony perfectly personal to them.

Annie made her way to the ceremony with her parents by her side.

After their ceremony, local singer/songwriter James Dixon played outside in the courtyard, getting everyone’s feet tapping away as they tucked into the flowing canapés and sipped on G&T’s.

After being covered in confetti and chatting with guests, Annie and Ben snuck off for a moment together.

It was then time for one of my favourite parts of the day; announcing the newlyweds into their wedding breakfast with all their friends and family cheering and clapping! Their meal was catered by one of our recommended suppliers Pickle Shack, with Woodfired Kitchen getting their oven going in the evening for pizzas.

After their speeches everyone hit the bar, before all their guests joined Annie and Ben for their cutting of the cake and first dance!

A few words from the gorgeous Bride– “There were so many reasons why we fell in love with Launcells Barton as a venue; the location, the beautiful house, the rustic snug bar, but not least Lara and Matt who were brilliant, laid back and reassuring throughout.  We didn’t have lots of ideas for our wedding before we started planning, but most important to us was that it was fun and relaxed. Dancing with my nieces to James Dixon’s incredible music, and drinking prosecco in the October sunshine will be a lasting memory!”

These stunning images are all thanks to one of our recommended photographers Travers and Brown. He has captured their fun filled, relaxed day perfectly!

Annie & Ben, it was a privilege to host your perfectly intimate day. It was perfectly you throughout and we wish you nothing but the best as you start your married life together!

Autumn is such a beautiful time of year, with the leaves starting to change colour and the days getting slightly shorter, so candles and lighting really create such a beautiful atmosphere. What better example of just how gorgeous a wedding in Autumn can be, is Sophie and Chris’ wedding from October.

Sophie got ready in the Bridal Suite with her Bridesmaids and family around her, before heading off to their church ceremony just outside Launceston. Just as Sophie was taking her seat in the car, I heard a tiny pop from the strap of her dress. Knowing that there wasn’t much we could do at that moment- otherwise she was going to be very late for her ceremony! I told her it was all fine and waved them off. When they arrived back from their ceremony, with sewing box at the ready, I put a couple of stitches to secure her dress, to make sure she could dance the night away later! Little things like this happen at every wedding, but don’t stress or worry, you’re marrying the person you love, so just enjoy your day and no will ever notice!

After the ceremony everyone made their way into the Mill Barn for drinks and Canapés, before the newlyweds were welcomed with cheers by all their guests.

After the drinks reception, we invited guests to take their seats in the Reception Barn, which had been decorated beautifully with a large hanging flower wreath on the centre beam, with autumnal reds, greens and purples adorning every table by Odds and Buds, along with their favourite gin bottles, that they had collected holding long candles lighting up the barn.

As their guests found their seats, Chris and Sophie spent a bit of time together before being announced in as newlyweds!

The barn was lit up magically, as the day became duskier for their wedding breakfast and speeches.

As the couples band set up, everyone went outside for a group photo and a mingle, before Chris and Sophie cut the cake and had their first dance as Man and Wife!

A few words from Sophie“We fell in love with Launcells Barton from the moment we visited, and it was the most confident choice we made for our wedding together. We cannot thank Lara & Matt enough, it was the best day!”

What a wonderful day to be a part of, with such welcoming friends and family! We wish Sophie and Chris all the best for the future as they start married life together!

Back in December, on a bright Winter’s day Ailsa and Phil, along with the help of their two little girls tied the knot in front of all their friends and family!

If ever people think they can’t organise a wedding in under a year, Ailsa and Phil are perfect proof that it can be done and planned to perfection with no detail missed! Having given themselves only 4 months due to Phil’s leave from the Marines!

I have to admit I do love a Winter wedding, just as much as I love a Summer wedding! Yes you don’t always know what the weather is going to do, but as long as you have inside and outside options, it doesn’t really matter. Winter and Summer are just very different weddings, but both have their charms! A Winter wedding the sun sets earlier, so you get all the atmosphere of the candles flickering away, guests all cosy inside with hot mulled wine and, if you can’t add a bit of sparkle at Christmas, then when can you?!  Ailsa and Phil’s wedding was all those things and more!

Ailsa got ready in the house with her friends and two little girls by her side, while Phil got into his uniform with all his friends at the couple’s house. Ailsa had the most stunning beaded grey dress from Needle and Thread and her bridesmaids wore mix matched 3/4 length grey, white and pink dresses which fitted the laid back feel of the wedding perfectly.  The bridal party’s make up was perfected by one of our faves and recommended supplier Lizzy Couch.

The groomsmen soon arrived and welcomed guests in the Snug Bar, before everyone began to take their seats.

Ailsa was walked down the aisle by her Dad, while her Bridesmaids walked down the aisle with the couple’s two little girls.

Guests were then offered Mulled Wine and Cider in the Snug Bar, while the newlyweds had a bit of time together before being welcomed back into the Mill Barn for speeches and a few surprises!

The couple’s speeches were really relaxed and very personal, with the Groom even singing a song he’d written for his new Wife!

Guests were then asked to make their way to the reception barn, while Ailsa & Phil had a bit of time with their family.

I had a very special little helper get all the guests up on their feet by clinking the glass, ready to announce the newlyweds for the first time to all their friends and family!

Their guests enjoyed slow roast beef with all the trimmings provided by The Woodfired Kitchen, before they got the pizza oven all fired up serving mini calzone pizzas throughout the whole evening. They were such a fantastic take on the traditional Cornish pastie!

Rebecca Roundhill one of our recommended suppliers and all round fabulous photographer captured all these beautiful images for Ailsa & Phil’s day. It’s so great having Rebecca with us during a wedding, she is a burst of sunshine and is just so relaxed- which is what years of experience brings!

A few words from Ailsa- I’m struggling with where to start, because it’s so difficult to put into words just how wonderful our day was. From the moment we met Lara and looked around the venue, there was no question that we were going to get married there. It really is a hidden gem. We live 3 minutes away and never even knew it existed. It had everything we wanted from a venue; a beautiful space for our ceremony in the Mill Barn, a large reception Barn for our guests to eat and be merry, a picturesque setting for capturing stunning photos, and a gorgeous farmhouse with the most amazing bridal suite you will ever see! That bathroom!

You’d think that only giving ourselves 4 months to plan our wedding would be stressful. But, I can honestly say that I enjoyed every second of the organisation. Communication between ourselves and Lara was excellent and any questions we had were promptly answered.
The day itself was just perfect. Being a December wedding we almost expected bad weather. Every part of our day was inside or undercover so, rain or shine, it really didn’t matter. However, we woke up to blue skies and pink clouds over the farmhouse. It looked beautiful!

One of the best things about the venue is that it is so flexible. Whatever your vision for your wedding, I’m pretty sure it can be achieved here. We had a very relaxed, informal ceremony and we chose to do the speeches immediately after with canapes and welcome drinks in the Mill Barn, rather than during the wedding breakfast. We also had bag pipes during the ceremony, a speech delivered using a guitar and a Scottish Ceilidh in the evening. Anything is possible here!

Throughout the day Matt, Lara and their team behind the scenes made sure that everything ran smoothly. If there were any hiccups we really had no idea because we were just enjoying ourselves so much! Thank you Matt, Lara and team for all the hard work that went into making such special memories for Phil and I. We couldn’t have asked for more. I highly recommend Launcells Barton as a wedding venue: It’s beautiful, flexible, and Lara and Matt are dedicated to making your day as carefree and memorable as possible!

Ailsa and Phil’s wedding was totally relaxed and reflected them as a couple perfectly, incorporating their young family, Ailsa’s scottish roots and Phil’s duty to the Marine’s, making every special moment personal to them. We wish Ailsa and Phil a fantastic future together and sure we will see you out and about as your young family grows!
