Trees, trees, trees – our biomass wedding venue!

This week we have been cutting down lots of trees to get ready for our new biomass boiler that is being installed soon! It was all hands on deck- even little ones!

We are installing central heating into the house and barns soon, so need to make sure we have enough wood ready to go when its all up and ready! As many of you know the house at the moment has no central heating and is very cold without all the fires roaring. Although we will be putting a wood burner into the sitting room and keeping the open fire in the dinning room, we can’t expect our guests to start fires every morning and keep them going throughout the day – they will be far too busy enjoying their wedding! so we need to make sure the house is nice and toasty for our winter weddings.

We have acres of woodland on the farm, so have just acquired our felling license to coppice trees, so that we can self sustain our biomass boiler. We also have a thinning license to open up the area at the front of the house by the pond.

We also had to take down this big fella as it was pushing out our wall. We had to get the professionals in for this one though, as it was not for those with a phobia of heights! The tree surgeons were climbing and swinging on ropes like acrobats! It was amazing to watch and certainly involved a lot of skill!Tree to cut down

Hopefully the next time you visit us here at Launcells Barton, you will see how much lighter the farm looks now that the trees have been tamed!
