Beautiful September Wedding with a Sunset Tractor ride in Cornwall

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of hosting the wedding of Lizzie & Tom. We first met Lizzie back in January when she travelled over from Australia to start planning their wedding in Cornwall. Tom didn’t see Launcells Barton until May of this year but had complete trust in Lizzie’s vision of what the day was going to look like. Since Lizzie’s first visit we kept in contact with them regularly. They were so excited to visit Launcells Barton every few months, and as building works progressed, they were able to envisage their dream day more and more.

Lizzie and Tom are both resident Doctors in Australia, with Lizzie working in a busy ER and Tom working in the Intensive Care Unit at their local hospital. Tom has family close by in Cornwall, while Lizzie’s family live in the South East of England. With some family members unable to make the journey to Australia, the couple decided to have their wedding back home, surrounded by their friends and family.

Lizzie and Tom first met while at university and soon became inseparable, sharing each others love of adventure! The couple are keen travellers and rack up many air miles travelling all over the world! Each table of their seating plan was even named after their favourite beaches from their many travels together, each one having a sentimental meaning!

The morning of the wedding Lizzie got ready in the house with her bridesmaids. They all looked fabulous in their matching floral pyjamas! Tom spent the night with his friends at a nearby hotel – I don’t think they all had matching floral pyjamas, but they did have some rather funky, colourful socks on for the occasion!

Lizzie wore a simple, elegant gown, finished beautifully with a cathedral length veil and a burst of colour with flowers in her hair.

Lizzie and Tom were married at St Swithins church, which is just down the path from Launcells Barton house. After walking up from the church, they followed their ceremony with drinks and canapés in the courtyard.

The couple and their close friends had so much fun going off for photos while guests were enjoying drinks.

Lizzie and Tom’s wedding was certainly international! Not only had all their university friends traveled from across Europe to be with them, but they had over 50 doctors attending their wedding, some of whom had traveled from as far away as Australia and New Zealand to be with them on their special day!

The couple were able to sneak off into the garden for some quick photos, while all their guests were taking their seats for the wedding breakfast in the Mill barn.

The couple chose from one of our recommended suppliers Beautiful and the Feast to caterer for their wedding. They were kind enough to plate us up a selection too and i have to say the food was so good it was out of this world!

This wedding was so much fun to be apart of, as you could really feel that the day was a real celebration of the couple and every detail was personal to them. Lizzie’s best friend even got everyone involved in making a video about the couple and their wasn’t a dry eye in sight, even from us!

Lizzie and Tom really wanted to have some time together just the two of them, so Matt offered to drive them to the top of the farm in our tractor so they could watch the sunset over the sea. They told us afterwards that they were so glad that they had taken that time and it really had made their day! Tom was asking Matt on the drive if it is difficult driving such a er….” vintage” tractor, so Matt said “see for yourself” and let Tom drive his new Bride back to the party Cornish style!

These absolutely stunning images were taken by the Oli from McGivern Photography, who is actually relatively new to the wedding world of photography, but is clearly amazing! The images have captured the day so perfectly and Oli really did think outside the box when looking for original and creative ideas. Oli even came the day before and went for a walk around the farm scoping out the perfect locations. Lizzie and Tom were so happy to go with his -at times- crazy ideas, but i have to hand it to him, they are simply breathtaking!

Lizzie and Tom have taken a much needed rest and have jetted off on a 3 month honeymoon travelling around South America! Since their wedding they have already been trekking in jungles and national parks around Columbia!

We wish them every happiness as they enter into married life together and thank them and their family for welcoming us in to their celebrations, even encouraging Matt and I to take part in their cultural traditions and enjoy a drink with them all!

“Thank you again for such a magical wedding, the day went perfectly thanks to you, Matt and all involved. Still can’t get over it!”- Lizzie
