A Cornwall Wedding Venue That Feels Like a Destination….

On the Cornwall & Devon Border
There’s something rather special about Launcells Barton’s location.
Set in the Cornish countryside, just five minutes from Bude and close to the North Cornwall coast, Launcells Barton sits on the Cornwall and Devon border- giving you the feeling of a destination wedding without asking your guests to get on a plane and make sure their passports are in date!
And don’t worry, we’re definitely in Cornwall! If you’re ever unsure, just ask a local how they like their scone – they’ll be very quick to let you know you’re definitely not in Devon!
Although we’re slightly off the main route, that’s part of the charm. You leave the busier roads behind and arrive somewhere that feels peaceful, private and a world away from everyday life.

A destination wedding without the distance
When you picture a destination wedding, you might imagine somewhere that requires flights, passports and a serious amount of organisation for your guests.
But it doesn’t have to.
For couples living in the UK, Cornwall offers that feeling of getting away without the logistics of going abroad. Your guests can travel down, stay for a few nights and enjoy a proper break around the wedding itself.
And that’s where Launcells Barton works particularly well.
We’re just over the Devon border, with Bude and the North Cornwall coast only a short drive away. Your guests can spend time exploring the beaches, walking the coast, discovering the local restaurants or simply enjoying a few days away together.
Rather than arriving for the wedding and heading home the following morning, they can make a weekend – or longer -of it.
Because with exclusive use of Launcells Barton and accommodation onsite, the wedding can become more than a single day.
It becomes the evening before, the morning of, the celebrations themselves and breakfast together the following morning.

Cornwall countryside, with the coast close by
One of the things we love most about our location is that you don’t have to choose between the coast and countryside.
Launcells Barton sits within 230 acres of family farmland, surrounded by the landscape that makes North Cornwall so special.
You have fields, open countryside, historic buildings and views towards the sea, while the coast is close enough to make a trip to the beach part of your stay.
It’s a lovely combination for a wedding.
It’s not unusual for the groomsmen to head down to the coast on the morning of the wedding for a dip in the sea pool, or for guests to grab breakfast on the beach before heading back to Launcells Barton for the day ahead.
Those are the sorts of little moments that make the whole experience feel more like a few days away together, rather than simply a wedding day.
And then, once everyone is back at Launcells, the celebrations begin- with the whole place exclusively yours to enjoy.

A home away from home
For us, this is where the location really comes into its own.
Launcells Barton isn’t simply somewhere you arrive for your ceremony and leave again afterwards.
With exclusive use of the venue, the whole place becomes yours for your stay.
The Manor House provides a home for your closest family and friends, while our additional accommodation and the many places to stay nearby mean you can bring a much larger group together.
There can be a relaxed evening the night before – perhaps a BBQ under the Cornish sky followed by getting ready together in the Manor House the next morning.
Then there’s the wedding itself, followed by breakfast, coffee and plenty of time to relive the day before everyone heads home.
It’s this sense of having somewhere that’s completely yours that makes Launcells Barton feel less like a wedding venue and more like a home away from home.

Why Launcells Barton works for a destination wedding
If you’re looking for a destination wedding venue in Cornwall, we think the location is a big part of the experience.
You’re not simply hiring a beautiful space for a wedding day.
You’re bringing your favourite people somewhere they can stay, explore, relax and spend proper time together.
You have the countryside and coast, the freedom to explore Bude and the surrounding area, plenty of accommodation nearby and, most importantly, Launcells Barton itself is exclusively yours.
It’s far enough away to feel like you’ve escaped, but close enough that getting here doesn’t become the main event.
A little bit of Cornwall, all to yourselves.
