On a gorgeous June day, Jess and Myk married within St Swithins Church that’s just a minutes walk from the front doors of the house with their Son in their arms. This wedding had everything, heartfelt speeches, limbo, a very sparkly jacket to kick off their first dance, oh, and there may have been some underpants with the Groom’s face on!

It’s been a busy couple of years for Jess and Myk, as shorty after booking their wedding with us, they found out they were expecting their first baby! It was great seeing Jess blossom through the planning process and then finally meeting their little cutie Maxwell, who enjoyed the whole day with his newlywed parents!

Jess got ready for her big day in the Manor House, with all her bridesmaids, and little Maxwell  never too far away for a cuddle.

As Jess got ready, Myk arrived with all twelve groomsmen for a quick drink, before heading off to the church to welcome all their guests!

Jess then slipped into her gorgeously elegant dress and all her Bridesmaids got ready to make their way to the church. Jess looked absolutely breathtaking in a simple elegant sheath gown with subtle lace touches finished off with that gorgeous bright and beautiful bouquet!

Emotions ran high, when Myk and Maxwell saw their beautiful Bride for the first time at the end of the aisle!

After the ceremony, guests walked the short walk back to Launcells Barton for their welcome drinks reception. Live music played as guests mingled and enjoyed lawn games in the garden and courtyard.

As guests made their way to find their seats in the Reception Barn, Jess & Myk took a bit of time to themselves and enjoyed a quick game of badminton, before being welcomed in for their wedding breakfast!

The Reception Barn looked absolutely stunning, with bold coloured flowers and huge peonies filling tables, a stunning bold arch framing the top table and a flower wreath hanging from the centre beam!

Guest stood to congratulate the newlyweds, as they took their seats with Maxwell at their side.  After the wedding breakfast, Myk gave a very heartfelt speech to his new wife and family, while his bestmen set about presenting a very organised and thorough speech with handouts and powerpoint presentation!

As we turned around the Reception Barn and their band set up, guests mingled and Jess and Myk took a ride on our Tractor to find a bit of time to take in the day!

As Jess and Myk arrived back to the barn and the band were ready to play their first dance, Myk slipped into a sparkly jacket in homage to their love of the Greatest Showman!

And then the party began…….

A few words from Jess–  ” From the moment we arrived on our initial visit we knew that Launcells Barton was the perfect place for us to celebrate our wedding with all our friends and family. The venue itself is so unbelievably beautiful, the house, the barns, the grounds, we fell in love with the place. Lara and Matt were so welcoming and excited about helping us achieve our wedding dreams! We could not imagine anywhere more perfect. Finding the time to plan wasn’t the easiest for us once our beautiful baby boy arrived, but Lara and her team were so helpful. They provided lots advice and recommendations, and using some of their amazing partner suppliers made things so easy for us!

Our wedding day was perfect, one of the best things was that on the actual day we enjoyed ourselves from start to finish. This was so important as we knew that we weren’t going to be able to relive the day, we wanted to make the most of it and it’s thanks to Lara, Matt and their team that we were able to do this. As well as the big things – epic venue, great hosts, beautiful accommodation etc. there were so many small details that made us feel really special.

Launcells Barton is the ideal wedding venue and would highly recommend it to anyone. We’d also like to thank Lara and Matt so much for giving us a day that we can look back on for the rest of our lives with such overwhelming happiness and joy.”

It was an absolute pleasure getting to know you both and seeing your family grow along the way! We wish you all nothing but happiness and laughter, as no doubt Maxwell will keep you both on your toes getting himself into mischief!

As a couple you may well already have an idea of what you’re looking for in a wedding venue.  Perhaps you have your hearts set on marrying outside, being close the coast, saying ‘I do’ surrounded by glorious Cornish countryside or at a venue that’s heaped in heritage.

The great news is that we’re able to tick all of those boxes, but an option that proves to be particularly popular for couples viewing our venue is our barn weddings, so let’s tell you a little about our barns and how they could work well for your own wedding…

Our 19th Century Mill Barn

With beautifully exposed beams and large French doors that leave the space bathed in sunshine, our lovingly restored 19th century stone-built Mill Barn has a real wow-factor and is definitely a popular choice for our couples.  Many of the original stone features in the barn remain exposed to ensure it has lost none of its original character, and with a capacity for up to 160 seated guests it’s great for wedding ceremonies of all sizes.

Tucked away beneath the Mill Barn you’ll find a beautiful rustic bar, which is often the first place your guests will head once they arrive at our venue.  Constructed from reclaimed wood salvaged during the barn’s renovation, there’s a cosy seating area that makes this the perfect place to relax, enjoy a drink and begin the day!

Our reception barn

Our reception barn has been purpose built to give you the ultimate place in which to share memories with friends and family on your big day.  The barn has been carefully crafted to compliment the surrounding buildings and countryside, whilst also giving you, your caterers and evening entertainment a state-of-the-art space to call your own.

It doesn’t end there either! As well as a spacious bar and lounge area with a cosy atmosphere and comfy leather sofas, the Reception Barn has lots of outdoor seating and a large lawn where your guests can mingle; great for summer evenings!

A blank canvas

Both of our barns give our couples a complete blank canvas to really make their own; take inspiration from some of our previous weddings, put your ideas in place and create the wedding you’ve always wanted and dreamt of!

For more information on our exclusive use barn weddings in Cornwall please give us a call on 01288 352352 or email us on hello@launcellsbarton.co.uk and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have or arrange a viewing for you.

When it comes to picking your wedding venue we know there’s an incredible range of options for every bride and groom. So why a country estate and why Launcells Barton It’s a place that Matt and I both love to share with couples on one of the biggest and most special days of their lives – it fuses new with old, it has a unique blend of coast and countryside and what’s more, it’s exclusive use so you have it all to yourselves! Sound good to you? We’ll explain why we think you’ll fall in love with our little part of Cornish countryside…

Something old, something new

Much like the old tradition, our wedding venue has a special mixture of historic and modern options. The house is Georgian so those wanting an element of character and grandeur will certainly be wowed by what this gorgeous building can offer you. There’s also the 19th Century Mill Barn which is licensed for civil ceremonies and will capture you with its charm. If you’re looking to match the historic with something a little more modern then we also have our purpose built Reception Barn, which has been designed to complement the original buildings, but benefits from being new and completely state-of-the-art!

Exclusively yours

Weddings are a day to share with your loved ones so when it comes to yours what better way to spend it than surrounded only by those you cherish the most. There won’t be any interruptions, just the space for you to enjoy yourselves in private. We encourage all of our couples to treat Launcells Barton like their home, and we provide a personal service to make sure you feel like a million dollars, the whole time!

A dreamy setting

We’ve been told by many of our couples that one of the best things about our venue is how we capture the beauty of Cornwall in one location, so if you’re looking for the best of both worlds you really are in luck. We’re set amongst acres of countryside with stunning coastal views waiting for you over the brow of our hill. We fell in love with this place ourselves and the unique blend of countryside and coast definitely played a part in that.

Ultimate luxury

You will be surrounded by complete luxury at our venue. Wonderful interiors, lovingly restored historic buildings, roll top baths and decadence. You’ll also be blessed with a hamper filled with handpicked local treats for the duration of your stay, just to make you feel that extra bit special.

Back in January, Alex from Serpentines Shores created a concept of using the beauty and personality of Launcells Barton and adding simple elegant touches, to bring together a less is more classic and contemporary styled shoot.

Alex from Serpentines Shores tell us more about the shoot!

“The idea behind this editorial was ‘less is more’; our desire was to create a modern, minimalist wedding that was simple and sleek without being too clinical or bland or absent of character. Drawing upon classical influences as well as those more rustic touch-points closer to home in Cornwall; we desired a look that was as smoothly lithe and refined as at was relaxed and down to earth.

The ever-gorgeous Launcells Barton worked ideally as a venue. With its bare beams and white walls; both fresh and clean, but also full of personality. It provided the perfect blank canvas, employed perhaps most notably by Loulabel. Who’s floristry winds vine-like through the scenes; from the bride’s artful bouquet, to the foliage climbing the walls of the Mill Barn.

Tankerville Press provided an invitation suite – complete with glassine envelope and wax seal – that struck the chord perfectly between classical and contemporary. Whilst Cherry Williams gowns added a svelte and understatedly elegant touch, Lizzy Couch and Hannah Woodgates kept our bridal look natural and gracefully effortless”

At the end of October, Storm Brian rampaged through Cornwall, sending fences and furniture flying across the farm. With the storm in full swing and Brian giving everything he’d got, not even the sideways rain and 70 mph winds could wipe the smiles from Charlotte and Dan’s faces on their wedding day!

We first met Charlotte and Dan at our Open Day event last year. we only had a muddy hole and an artists impression of what the new Reception Barn was going to look like to show them.  After being taken with the renovations already completed, they set their date and quickly got on with planning their autumn wedding!

Charlotte, Dan and all their family and friends arrived the day before to decorate and set up. Everybody was laughing and joking and enjoying time together seeing all their plans taking shape! I loved chatting to Charlotte as she excitedly showed all the little touches she had put together, including the stunning artwork of the house that she had commissioned for the table plans, menus and order of service!

The Reception barn was dressed so elegantly with greenery and fairy lights hanging from beams and draped around the dinning area.  Each table was dressed with candles in mix & match gold holders and vases of flowers filled with soft pinks, creams and greenery. The candles and fairy lights looked wonderful, as by the time guests sat down for the wedding breakfast, the sun was setting and the candles created a gorgeously soft lighting.  All of the beautiful flowers were supplied by one of our faves and local florist Bleujen.

Charlotte got ready, on the blustery autumn morning, within the house surrounded by friends and family. Hannah Woodgates Hair Design & Laura Le Page Make Up, took care of beautifying all the bridal party! While Dan and his friends got ready at Penleaze, just a stones throw away from Launcells Barton.

I walked into the house to check on the Bridal party and was welcomed by the most stunning Bride standing in the hall surrounded by all her friends! Charlotte literally took my breath away and was beaming ear to ear!

After announcing for all their guests to take their seats in the Mill Barn and the Groom and ushers waiting nervously for the Bride to arrive, we looked out of the main doors looking for any let up from the elements! It was decided that we just had to make a dash for it, all hands were on deck to make sure the Bride and her dress were safe from the wind and rain!

The Obligato String Quartet played as Charlotte walked down the Aisle to her eagerly awaiting Groom.

We turned the Mill Barn around for the couples drinks reception and thought it was best to work around the guests this time, as some of them may have been blown away, if they had ventured to the snug bar!

It was then a quick run to the house for the couple and their bridal party for a few pictures, while guests took their seats in the Reception Barn.

The happy couple were welcomed in with cheers and applause from all their guests as we announced their Bride & Groom!

Pickle Shack provided the most wonderful catering before the speeches got underway.

It was then on to dancing and … human pyramids!

Depict Photography who shoot mainly on film captured these gorgeous images to create these beautiful memories for Charlotte and Dan!

A few words from Charlotte-  Dan and I first visited Launcells Barton on a rainy January afternoon and were immediately taken with Lara and Matt’s enthusiasm and the sheer beauty of the venue. At the time the main barn was just a building site, but we could see how beautiful is was going to be and fell in love with the main house and reception barn. We knew it was the perfect venue for the relaxed feel we wanted but also enough of a blank canvas that we could make it our own. All the time, money and effort planning was completely worth it on the day – despite having an uninvited guest in the form of ‘Storm Brian’ with his gale force winds and driving rain…! Luckily Launcells Barton proved the perfect choice and the weather was soon forgotten as the beauty of the venue is as much about its interior as its exterior – a quality we had struggled to find at other venues.  Lara & Matt coordinated and supported us through the day perfectly alongside our caterers Pickleshack – who couldn’t stop gushing about the amazing kitchen! One thing that was really important to me was that the evening had a good ‘flow’, I really wanted to avoid a venue where guests were segregated into different rooms depending on whether they were at the bar, relaxing or dancing and the main barn was perfect for this – after our meal the bar doors were thrown open and everyone danced the night away no matter where they were. I honestly couldn’t fault the entire weekend and would do it all again in a heartbeat – rain included! Thank you so much to Lara, Matt and the rest of the Launcells team for helping us create the wedding of our dreams!

The whole weekend was full of laughter and their positivity shone through, never letting the elements stop them from enjoying their weekend and always seeing the best of everything! I can even remember a hashtag being used to tell storm Brian exactly what they thought of him!! It was a pleasure to be involved in such a welcoming and joyous day and wish Charlotte and Dan nothing but happiness for their future together, we’re sure the balance of Charlotte’s creativity and Dan’s practicality is set to make the perfect partnership!

In October we saw the beautiful autumnal wedding of John and Carly who we first met last year, before the new Reception Barn was yet to see any of it’s foundations laid. Carly grew up on a farm herself and wanted that countryside feel for their wedding. Luckily, being used to rural life meant they could see past all the mud as renovations got underway!

John is a master distiller and recreated the original recipe of Trevethan Cornish Gin from the 1920’s, bringing it back to life and giving it the iconic art deco look you see today!

John & Carly’s close friends and family helped them set up the day before their wedding, so on the morning of their wedding, Carly and John only had worry about getting ready and enjoying their big day!

The ceremony was held in the Mill Barn and was decorated simply with lanterns lining the aisle and small bud vases filled with flowers on the registrar table, gorgeous for an October wedding and the duskier light.

Once Craig Chapman had put the finishing touches to Carly’s hair and make up, it was then time for the bridal party to make their way to the ceremony! Carly’s Bridesmaids and all the Groomsmen were in navy and burgundy, which was just perfect for their autumnal wedding and brought Carly’s stunning beaded blush gown out beautifully!

The sun was just popping it’s head out after the ceremony, so guests were able to go outside into the courtyard and garden to enjoy their welcome drinks reception, and what else would you expect the newlyweds to offer their guests other than a G&T made with their own amazing gin!

The newlyweds even snuck off for some time to themselves!

It was then time to ask their guests to make their way to the reception barn for their meal! John & Carly kept everything really simple with fairy lights draped across the beams and Bleujen popped in on the morning of their wedding and styled the tables with church candles and foliage, with subtle navy touches.

Rocs Catering rustled up a beautiful BBQ style wedding breakfast for everyone, with guests being able to help themselves from the sharing platters.

After speeches- where tears of laughter rolled down my eyes from the Father of the Brides speech! Everyone mingled in the bar while their band Riviera dogs set up for the evening! Everyone was up on the dance floor singing and dancing the night away, to all the classics!

A few words from the happy couple John and I both grew up within an hour of Bude and we wanted a venue that epitomised both my rural upbringing and Johns love of the countryside. Launcells Barton did just that. The amazing view from the front of the house across fields and fields of Cornish countryside was the first thing that struck us as we pulled up for our first viewing. The Farm House and the surrounding Barns were also beautifully renovated but still in keeping with its farming history. On the day Lara and Matt were the perfect hosts, allowing us enough space to conduct our Wedding just how we had imagined it; but never be too far away if we needed help and assistance. The planning and timing on the day was perfect and it made such a difference having Lara on hand to make sure we didn’t miss a thing. We wouldn’t have changed one single thing about the entire weekend.

Congratulations to John and Carly, we wish you every happiness in your married
life together!

These gorgeous images were all snapped by Rachel Amos Photography.

So you’ve decided your budget allows for live music at your wedding? Great news! It’s a fantastic way to create the type of atmosphere you desire and also make your day really memorable. Whether you’re looking for a string quarter or disco band, we at Launcells Barton have compiled a checklist to ensure it goes off without a hitch and ensure you get the perfect match!

1. The most important point is to be sure of your budget from the get go. You don’t want to find someone great and then come to realise that your budget doesn’t really allow. Ask yourselves, is it one of the most important aspects of your wedding or just a small addition? Also remember that quality music isn’t cheap. Hold off on the research until you know how much you are willing to spend!

2. You’ll need to sit down with your fiancé and discuss what type of music you would like. It’s helpful to think about both of your tastes and what type of atmosphere you’d like to create. Do you want it to be chilled and complimented by classical music or would you like something to get the party started and making everyone get up on their feet?

3. Its handy to have a rough run through of your day to see what times you would like live music to be played. Are you wanting to have music at the ceremony, during a reception or meal, or for an evening party? Maybe you’d like all of these, but do keep referring back to your budget!

4. Research is a very important part of the planning process. If there’s a band based at the opposite end of the country don’t be disheartened as they may be prepared to travel, but this will obviously be worked into the price. Obtain full quotes from your top choices with no hidden costs, and ask their availability to be certain they can make your date.

5. If you have managed to whittle it down and made your final choices, you now need to ask questions which are important to you. If there is a certain song you would like played, make sure that your band are happy to do this. You are paying for a service and therefore have the right to make certain requests, but make sure it’s nothing too outlandish! Also ensure that you obtain a full set list and check you are happy beforehand.

6. If at all possible, its beneficial to meet up with your band, rather than meeting them for the first time on the day. This of course might not be possible but if it is, do try to make the effort. It’s a good idea to put them in touch with your venue also, in case they have any technical or logistical questions.

7. Before the big day comes, do make sure you check with the band how long it will take them to set up and what this will involve, such as how much room they will need. It is common practice for set up to take place after the meal, when tables are being cleared and guests are at the bar getting drinks. Bear in mind some musicians could need an hour for this.

More and more people are deciding to write their own wedding vows in order to put into their own words how they feel about the one they love and to tell their friends and family how much that other person means to them. When it comes to the reality of actually writing them, things can get a little tricky; how do you put your emotions into words and your pen to paper? How do you encapsulate how you really feel?

For most of us this can be a daunting task, so if you’re currently writing your vows with a blank sheet of paper staring back at you, here are seven useful tips for making them all you want them to be from the team at our wedding venue in Cornwall.

Be authentic

The main and most important point is to be true to yourself – don’t try to be something you’re not. Your partner is marrying you, for you, and will want to feel that your words are genuine. It’s important to speak from your heart, they’re words you’ll remember forever.

Reflect on your relationship

Think about the reasons why you are marrying them and what has brought you to this moment. Look back on your favourite memories, your many ‘firsts’, and the moment you realised they were ‘the one’.

Buy a notepad

Writing isn’t something that comes naturally to many of us, so sitting down for a set period of time and forcing yourself to write vows under pressure (and potentially at the last minute) won’t make it enjoyable or what you want them to be, so try having a notepad on hand so that should an idea pop into your head, or some words, you’ll be able to write them down without any stress.

Google is your new best friend

The good news is that you’re not the first person to write your own vows and whilst you’ll not want to take someone else’s words, they can provide a great deal of inspiration. Head on a search to gain some ideas and always give Pinterest a visit; it’s an absolute goldmine when it comes to wedding ideas.

Practice makes perfect

Public speaking can fill some people with dread, so in order to avoid any fumbling or complete anxiety attacks, plenty of practice is vital. The more you practice the more natural and at ease you will be when the time comes to deliver your vows.

Share with someone who knows you both

It’s a good idea to do a run-through with a trusted friend who’ll be able to give you honest advice. It might be that they are able to add to your material, or tell you take something out if they feel you are perhaps oversharing with your audience!

Promises

Be honest with your partner. What can you promise them you’ll do throughout your marriage? Whether it’s to always buy their favourite coffee, to stand by them through thick and thin, or to stop singing along badly to the radio, make it something that means something to your both!

We wish you good luck with your vows and if you’d like to have a chat with us about having your big day at our wedding venue in Cornwall please do give us a call on 01288 352352.

Back in June saw the wedding of Beth and Sean and although it was a drizzly day, it definitely didn’t stop the couple and all their guests smiling, having fun and partying into the night!

Beth and Sean first met at Liverpool University and hit it off straight away with their shared love of adventure and travelling. Beth is now a GP working just outside Plymouth while Sean works as an anaesthetist at Derriford Hospital. The couple still take every opportunity to get out and surf when ever they can! They have even converted a van into a camper van, so they can pack up their surfboards and drive off for a few days, whenever they get chance! This is no ordinary van though, but one where the bride has thought carefully about all the essentials they may need on their travels, like matching curtains, cushions and even a spice rack! They have made it into their little home away from home for trips away just the 2 of them, where they don’t have to worry about the stresses of their day jobs and I loved it!

On the morning of their wedding Beth and her friends and family got ready in the house, with hair and make up by Blush Bridal, while the groom and his ushers got ready at a near by hotel, before arriving to take care of the final details in the morning.

Beth looked beautiful in a lace ballgown with illusion neckline and it was an emotional moment to see just how much this meant to her Father when he saw her for the first time in her dress. When helping Beth with some set up bits the day before, Beth had explained about loosing her Mother when she was younger and how she was having photos of her and around the venue, so she could still be a part of her special day. It was so touching to hear, that I could do nothing more than give her a big hug as we both welled up.

The ceremony was held in the Mill Barn, which had been dressed beautifully with hanging greenery from beams and windows, with ivy and foliage that the couple and their family had scavenged from recent walks. There really was a lot of thought and time that had gone in to every detail of their day. With family members making yards and yards of bunting and personalised momentums adding special sentiment to the day.

With brollies at the ready, it was then time for guests to make their way to the Mill Barn ready for the Bride to make her entrance and the ceremony to begin!

It was beautiful seeing such a happy couple make their vows to one another, with personal readings from the Bride and Groom’s close family.

The newlyweds then went back to the house for some time just the two of them and their guests were offered welcome drinks in the snug bar, while we turned the Mill barn around ready for their drinks reception.

Guests enjoyed canapès, drinks and an acoustic set by Bradley Cook in the Mill Barn.

Guests were then invited to take their seats in the Reception Barn which had been decorated the day before by all the ushers and bridal party with handmade bunting and strings and strings of twinkling fairy lights which had been draped from beam to beam. While each table had been named after their favourite beach and delicately styled with simple jars of flowers. The ever thoughtful bride even surprised the guests who’s birthday’s it was on their wedding day, with balloons and gifts waiting at their place setting!

Their guests enjoyed BBQ sharing platters on each table provided by H&A Catering.

Beth and Sean had infused their personal touches throughout the whole day with giant Jenga blocks, where guests were encouraged to write advice on married life on the blocks, the signing tree where guests built up the tree with their finger prints and the surfboard which displayed the seating plan, which had been handmade by the groom!

The happy couple then took some time out just the two of them with their photographer while their band set up. Travers and Brown, one of our recommended photographers was back for his second wedding with us and we absolutely love working with him. Not only is his work stylish, yet natural, but he is such fun on the day and as cool as a cucumber, making sure he gets the perfect shot and catching those fantastic “of guard moments”

Andrew ( Travers & Brown) “One of the great things about Launcells Barton from a photographers point of view is the number of great locations available within and around the venue. From the house to the Mill barn and the top field to the tree lined lane, there’s plenty of opportunity for great shots. On this particular occasion the weather wasn’t ideal but I was still able to shoot the couple portraits in the house and the Mill barn”

Their band, Love Gap, kicked the evening off with the couples first dance and a fantastic set that got everyone up dancing!

Some partied a little too hard…..

It was such a fun wedding , I think Matt and I may even have partaken in a shot or two with the wedding party at the bar too! ….. Well you can’t say no can you!

We wish Bethany and Sean every happiness for the future as they start married life together, we’re sure it will be adventure filled, travelling all over in their home away from home! We also want to thank them for trusting in our plans for the farm and not running a mile when seeing the muddy crater for the first time!

A few words from the happy coupleWe had looked at many wedding venues before we came across Launcells Barton. After the first viewing we both knew this venue would be perfect for us! Although the Events Barn was a muddy hole at the time of our booking we completely trusted their vision. Their hard work and obvious passion for the family farm was clear to see throughout the house and the Mill Barn.
The day itself was amazing! Lara and Matt worked hard behind the scenes, which made our day run smoothly. Even though we had the appearance of some typical Cornwall ‘Mizzle’ during the big day this did not dampen any spirits, as there was so much beautiful indoor space to accommodate all of our guests.
We would highly recommend this beautiful venue. Thank you for all your hard work we are still on cloud nine.”

Beth & Sean

Back in May we had the pleasure of seeing our very first couple to ever book their wedding at Launcells become Man and Wife!

We met Pauline and Paul back in November 2015, and they saw the farm before any renovations had started.  I think there may have even been Matt’s parents furniture still here too! They were completely on board with all our plans for the place and could see past all the work that needed to be done! Pauline and Paul originally wanted to get married in September last year, but were so taken by the new barn that they pushed their wedding back so it would be ready for their big day!

It was fantastic to get to know Pauline and Paul and see all their wedding plans come together!

Pauline organises outdoor adventure activities for children, meaning summer is always a pretty hectic time for her.  They decided a Spring wedding would allow them plenty of time to focus on their day.

The couple went for a beautiful English Country Garden feel by filling the Reception barn with big jars full of beautiful flowers, while Crescent Moon decorated the beams with stunning lighting and hanging lanterns! Pauline and Paul really put a lot of personal touches into their decorations, even making their seating plan out of an old desk!

The Mill Barn was understated elegance with white bunting sweeping from the beams, fairy lights twinkling, flowers hanging on chairs down the aisle and big milk churns full of flowers and branches in the corners. The chairs even had personalised tags for reserved seating. Everything looked absolutely breathtaking!

Pauline got ready on the day in the Bridal Suite with her fabulous bridal party. The bridesmaids wore gorgeous blush patterned dresses and everywhere you looked, hair and make up was being perfected by Hannah Woodgates hair design and Lizzy Couch Make up.

Pauline, with the help of her mum doing up all of those tiny buttons, looked simply stunning in a strappy lace, fit and flare dress finished beautifully with a beaded belt.

Paul, his bestman and ushers, welcomed guests as they arrived to take their seats in the Mill Barn.

It was then time for Pauline to make her way to the Mill Barn, and for the couple to say their vows in front of all their friends and family. It was such a beautiful ceremony with personal, yet funny, readings from friends.

Everyone followed the newlyweds out into the courtyard for Gin Fizz and Peach Bellini’s accompanied with delicious Canapés from Good Food Catering Co.

Everyone then made their way into the beautifully laid out Reception Barn to welcome the happy couple in for their wedding breakfast with balloons flying everywhere!

With a touching speech from the Bride’s father and rather insightful speeches from the Bestman and Groom!

The evening kicked off with an acoustic set by Kaj Music who had everyone up on the dance floor!

I have to say that Pauline and Paul’s wedding was so much fun to be a part of.  You could feel the love that all their friends and family had for them.  I even helped their bridesmaids and Bridesman surprise the newlyweds with a honeymoon suite filled with confetti, decorations and even their PJ’s laid out nicely on the bed!

Such amazing words from Pauline ( a tear may have been shed reading this!)

“We had viewed a couple of venues, when we met Lara and heard about her partner Matts beautiful old family run farm that they planned to turn into a gorgeous wedding venue… and we were intrigued!
Everywhere we had viewed up to this point just hadn’t connected with us… beautiful venues… just not how we imagined our day to be… just not “us”. And so we went to visit the farm, before any work had started! Armed with our wellies, the dog and warned that it really was still just an old house, and a barn and a cow shed full of what cows do best… we had a tour, spent ages just chatting with Lara and Matt, and left knowing that we wanted to have our wedding there.
They are a wonderful partnership. Warm, welcoming, friendly, helpful and so filled with vision and motivation that we trusted them one hundred percent to create what is now a gorgeous wedding venue.
Having the venue for the weekend, and having so much room to accommodate family and treat it as our home made the whole event magical. Nothing was too much trouble, and we were kept in the loop the whole time. Lara’s recommendations and advice helped with the planning immensely.
They have created a beautiful, rustic, natural setting packed full of old Cornish charm and we absolutely loved it. I am sad that we no longer have a reason to follow the progress of this fabulous place, we wish them all the best success for the future and cannot thank them enough for making our day so special.
My only complaint is that it went too fast… Can we do it again please?

These beautiful images were all captured by Nicola Muir Photography. Nicola is actually friends with the couple and has known them for years. She came all the way down from Hampshire to shoot their special day! Luckily Nicola’s parents don’t live too far away, so was even able to be picked up from work by her dad- a first time in many years!

Congratulations from everyone here at Launcells Barton! It’s been fantastic getting to know you both so well and we wish you all the happiness for the future.  Stay in touch!
