Irish boy meets Welsh girl and brings all their friends and family to celebrate together in Cornwall!

On a gorgeous sunny day in July, Sophie and Conal made their vows to one another under a cascade of flowers in the Walled Garden surrounded by all their loved ones.

Outdoor wedding Cornwall

It was a bit of a different wedding for us, as Irish tradition states that weddings are a 2 day event full of celebration and games! It certainly was that! Sophie and Conal’s family were so much fun and so friendly and welcoming, that I may have ended up dancing with Sophie’s dad learning how to Irish dance!

A few words from the Happy Couple-  “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who played a part in our wedding day. The idea of wedding planning seemed daunting, but it was important to us to share this big moment in our lives with our friends and family. We are so happy that we found a beautiful venue, where we could create a chilled environment for our guests to enjoy and where we had the flexibility to design a day that we loved. Lara, Matt and the Launcells Barton team were supportive every step of the way. Knowing all was in safe hands, meant we didn’t stress at all. A Family coming together and a party to remember for Jess and Myk’s Summer Wedding in Cornwall!

On a gorgeous June day, Jess and Myk married within St Swithins Church that’s just a minutes walk from the front doors of the house with their Son in their arms. This wedding had everything, heartfelt speeches, limbo, a very sparkly jacket to kick off their first dance, oh, and there may have been some underpants with the Groom’s face on!

Wedding Venues Southwest

It’s been a busy couple of years for Jess and Myk, as shorty after booking their wedding with us, they found out they were expecting their first baby! It was great seeing Jess blossom through the planning process and then finally meeting their little cutie Maxwell, who enjoyed the whole day with his newlywed parents!

Jess got ready for her big day in the Manor House, with all her bridesmaids, and little Maxwell  never too far away for a cuddle.

As Jess got ready, Myk arrived with all twelve groomsmen for a quick drink, before heading off to the church to welcome all their guests!

Jess then slipped into her gorgeously elegant dress and all her Bridesmaids got ready to make their way to the church. Jess looked absolutely breathtaking in a simple elegant sheath gown with subtle lace touches finished off with that gorgeous bright and beautiful bouquet!

Emotions ran high, when Myk and Maxwell saw their beautiful Bride for the first time at the end of the aisle!

And then the party began…….

A few words from Jess–  ” From the moment we arrived on our initial visit we knew that Launcells Barton was the perfect place for us to celebrate our wedding with all our friends and family. The venue itself is so unbelievably beautiful, the house, the barns, the grounds, we fell in love with the place. Lara and Matt were so welcoming and excited about helping us achieve our wedding dreams! We could not imagine anywhere more perfect. Finding the time to plan wasn’t the easiest for us once our beautiful baby boy arrived, but Lara and her team were so helpful. They provided lots advice and recommendations, and using some of their amazing partner suppliers made things so easy for us!

Our wedding day was perfect, one of the best things was that on the actual day we enjoyed ourselves from start to finish. This was so important as we knew that we weren’t going to be able to relive the day, we wanted to make the most of it and it’s thanks to Lara, Matt and their team that we were able to do this. As well as the big things – epic venue, great hosts, beautiful accommodation etc. there were so many small details that made us feel really special.

Launcells Barton is the ideal wedding venue and would highly recommend it to anyone. We’d also like to thank Lara and Matt so much for giving us a day that we can look back on for the rest of our lives with such overwhelming happiness and joy.”

It was an absolute pleasure getting to know you both and seeing your family grow along the way! We wish you all nothing but happiness and laughter, as no doubt Maxwell will keep you both on your toes getting himself into mischief!

Sunsets and rolling Cornish countryside for this gorgeous July wedding!

Last July Sam & Mary-Anne brought all their friends and family down with them from London and celebrated in the gorgeous Cornish Countryside on a beautiful summer’s day!

Not only did they bring their friends and family down with them, but they brought the wonderful London-based Wedding Planner, Shaun Johnson, who we’d put them in touch with to give them a bit more support piecing everything together, while Sam was away playing professional rugby and Mary-Anne was working long hours as a lawyer.

Bleujen styled the Mill Barn and Reception Barn beautifully the day before with delicate soft peachy pinks & greenery.

A few words from the happy couple “From the moment we saw photos of Launcells Barton we felt such a connection to the venue and then when we came down to meet you and look around we just knew we couldn’t get married anywhere else. Launcells is such a special place and you’ve really made it into the most wonderful venue. We felt as if we’d always known you, and as if we really belonged there, which is exactly the vibe we wanted for the wedding. You were so lovely and helpful in the run up and on the day- Lara you fitted in like a wonderfully helpful guest, and Matt thank you so much for the tractor ride up into the fields to see the sunset! We really had the most incredible day and could not have hoped for a happier, more magical wedding. Thank you so much for opening your home up to us, and letting us be a part of the Launcells Family”

Beautiful May Wedding in the Cornish Countryside!

On a glorious sunny day in May, Mark and Lucia married in front of all their loved ones at St Swithins church, just a short walk from the house.

We’ve know Mark for many years; he supports us on understanding the complex world of Google, so when he told us he had proposed to his beautiful wife to be and could only imagine Launcells Barton for the big day, we felt very honoured indeed!

Mark and Lucia decided they didn’t want a long engagement and, luckily for them, we had one date left in 2019! Using our fantastic recommend suppliers, Lucia and Mark brought together their beautiful, stress free day perfectly!

On the morning of their big day Lucia was joined in the Bridal Suite by her friends and family as Lizzy Couch MUA and Kylee-Marie Hair got everyone ready for the Church. It was so lovely and relaxed when I popped in to see how everything was going – just how a wedding morning should be!

Mark and all their guests made their way to St Swithins church and once I was sure everyone had taken their seats and no one would see Lucia leaving the house, we all made our way down, scooping her beautiful lace dress up, making sure it was perfect for when she saw Mark for the first time!   Country Wedding Venues Cornwall Exclusive Use Wedding Venues Cornwall Church Ceremony wedding Cornwall Church wedding Cornwall

Before we invited guests to take their seats in the reception barn for their meal, Lucia and Mark had family photos in the garden, before going off for a few moments by themselves.

The Reception Barn had been beautifully decorated the day before by Bleujen, with foliage and a mix of pink and white flowers hanging from the centre beam, while the tables looked simply elegant with vases full of flowers and candles. The newlyweds were beaming as we announced them in for their meal, which was catered by the amazing Woodfired Kitchen.

A few words from the Groom! “I wanted to say thanks so much to yourself and Matt for all your help and for letting us share our day at the amazing venue you’ve built over the last few years.  We’ll both remember the day for the rest of our lives and it couldn’t have gone better! Launcells Barton has something a little magical about it – as soon as we visited we soon knew it was the one for us.  We’d always wanted to get married in a church, so the proximity to one of the prettiest in Cornwall was an added bonus to the stunning manor house and countryside location. All of our family and friends had the most wonderful day and will remember it for a long, long time”

Congratulations again to Mark and Lucia! It was a joy seeing the both of you celebrating your special day surrounded by your loved ones! Thank you for letting us be a part of it!

Floral Inspiration for your Wedding at Launcells Barton

Sometimes it’s the little things in life that make a big difference, and that definitely applies to your wedding day; from the beautiful bouquet for the bride to a stunning archway adorning the top table at your wedding reception, the flowers and floristry on your big day are something you can really make your own and definitely help to create that ‘wow’ factor.

No matter if you’re a green-fingered gardener or couldn’t tell a peony from a primrose, here’s a little inspiration from some of our previous couples…

Our Mill Barn

If you’re wanting to get married in our beautifully converted 19th Century stone-built Mill Barn, the world really is your oyster when it comes to floristry.  As a blank canvas you can choose to keep things minimal, perhaps paying attention to those little details like the end of aisles and registry table, or making a big statement with an archway under which you say ‘I do’.

Bride and Groom kiss and sign register at a wedding venue in Cornwall

Getting married in the garden

There’s something very special about Launcells Barton when the sun is shining.  From the Cornish countryside that just looks a little greener, to the beautiful sunset over the sea, it’s easy to understand why so many of our couples choose to get married outside.

The great news here is that you’re already being married surrounded by nature’s wonderful and ever-changing canvas, but here’s how some of our couples have used floristry to make their ceremony jaw-droppingly unique…

Church weddings

If you’re getting married in the nearby Parish Church of St Swithin’s, you’ll have an incredibly romantic backdrop for whatever floristry you choose. Why not mark the moment you enter the church with a floral archway? How about adorning the 12th Century stone pillars with ivy for a rustic and traditional feel? Or a beautiful floral decoration at the alter? Here’s a little more inspiration to get your mind going…

Your reception

Our Reception Barn is a complete blank canvas so you really can make it the reception of your dreams. Have you pictured a hanging arrangement that becomes a real feature of the room and takes people’s breath away? Perhaps an archway for the top table? The most beautiful colours on your tables? Here are some of our recent favourites…

Not sure where to start?

Don’t panic if you don’t know where to start when it comes to your flowers. We’re lucky to have some great local florists who will be able to take your ideas and make them a reality.  No matter if you’re travelling from afar or living locally, all of our suppliers are here to help make your day the one you’ve always dreamed of.

A few words from the happy couple“We first found Launcells Barton on Instagram and instantly felt that this venue was different to so many of the other venues we had looked at and booked a viewing as soon as we could! We loved the fact that the venue was exclusive use, the ceremony and reception could be held in the same area, you could set up the venue the day before the wedding and then you could also have the bridal party stay for two nights in a beautiful house on site. When we first saw the venue, we had high expectations – and they were all completely lived up to and more! We were blown away by the sheer beauty of the venue but also felt completely relaxed in the good hands of Lara and her team and immediately felt that they were complete professionals and ready to make sure our day was exactly how we wanted it to be. Lara was always available to answer my questions in the lead up to the wedding and could not have been more helpful on the actual day making sure that the day ran smoothly from start to finish. All of the bar team were so friendly and helpful and we will treasure the photos we had on the tractor ride from Matt on our way to the top field for sunset! We were lucky to have some absolutely incredible suppliers which were mostly all recommended by Lara – this was so helpful considering we live 4 hours from Bude! Ourselves, the whole bridal party and all of our guests were made to feel so very welcome throughout our whole experience at Launcells. We can honestly say that our wedding day was the best day of our lives and we really cannot thank Lara, Matt and their wonderful team enough for helping to make our wedding day so very special. Thank you for everything”

Georgie and Rich, It was an absolute pleasure getting to know you both throughout your time planning your wedding with us and it was incredible to be a part of a special day that was shared by so many lovely friends and family! We wish you both nothing but happiness as you start your new lives as Mr & Mrs Fields!

Launcells Barton is our pride and joy, and our passion shines through each and every wedding we hold here. The most important thing to us is making sure we create weddings to remember and incredible memories to last a lifetime.

That’s why we absolutely love it when we hear the wonderful feedback from our happy couples who chose to share one of the most special days of their lives with us. Who better to describe a wedding day here at Launcells Barton than those that have experienced it for themselves?

Here are just a few kind words from some of our recent newlyweds…

Exclusive Use Wedding Venue Cornwall and Devon“There were so many reasons why we fell in love with Launcells Barton as a venue; the location, the beautiful house, the rustic snug bar, but not least Lara and Matt who were brilliant, laid back and reassuring throughout.  We didn’t have lots of ideas for our wedding before we started planning, but most important to us was that it was fun and relaxed. Dancing with my nieces to James Dixon’s incredible music, and drinking prosecco in the October sunshine will be a lasting memory!”

“It is difficult to put into words just how much we feel you contributed to us making our weekend so special.  Always on hand to answer our many questions, accommodating to our parents and suppliers, ready to give considered advice (that was always spot on!), your calm, professional, experienced and flexible approach meant that we had the day of our dreams….From the moment we visited it, we knew it was the perfect place and didn’t even consider anyone else. We loved the feel, the accommodating nature and the feeling that you would all do anything you could to accommodate us…I am getting quite emotional as I write this! Thank you just doesn’t seem to cover it but we are so grateful and thankful we found you and Launcells Barton – there is nothing we would change about the experience.”

Wedding Ceremony Cornwall and Devon
”The house is amazing, with more than enough space for a full bridal party. The walled garden was the perfect spot for an outdoor ceremony; a real sun trap which literally smells of roses! And the barn and grounds which provided so many areas for our guests to enjoy. We had the most amazing wedding and mini adventure in Bude, thanks team Launcells! So nice that we both feel like old friends rather than supplier and client. Sure you guys don’t fancy a trip over to Melbourne!? x”
– Sophia & David

“We only visited one venue because we knew that Launcells was the one, it offered that country elegance that we wanted whilst providing the flexibility of so many indoor and outdoor areas to use for all of the personal touches like the ice cream station and pizza van. The grounds provided the perfect setting for our photos and catered for the surprise bouncy castle which was just the BEST THING EVER. Launcells was the dream venue and the staff really helped make everything flow effortlessly, we had such a gorgeous stress-free day! Absolutely everything went to plan and we just wish we could do it all over again because its true what they say, it really is over before you know it.”

Why we chose Launcells Barton – Mark and Lucia

English Wedding Venue

In November I surprised my girlfriend by taking her back to the place we first met and asking her to marry me.  As for so many other couples, that moment was the start of the planning process toward our wedding day, which will be at Launcells Barton on 11th May 2019.

With so many decisions to be made along the way it can seem daunting at first, but fortunately for us one of the most important was also one of the easiest; choosing Launcells Barton.

When we first started our search we quickly realised there were an incredible range of wedding venues across both Devon and Cornwall; country barns, large manor houses, outdoor venues, by the beach venues – the list almost seems never-ending! But as soon as we visited Lara and Matt at Launcells Barton our minds were immediately made up. Here are just a few reasons we decided this little gem near the north Cornwall coast was the one for us.

The best of both worlds

We’d always pictured ourselves being married in church but didn’t necessarily like the idea of making what is sometimes the long trip from the ceremony to the reception venue, particularly given that many of the guests would be coming from London and the East of the country.  Our faces lit up when we realised that this venue was just a stone’s throw (and I mean literally 100 meters) from one of the prettiest and historic churches in the county.  As we’ve had our banns read over recent weeks we’ve also found that it’s filled each weekend with some of the friendliest and helpful people you’re likely to meet.

A real community feel

As Lara walked us around the venue on our first viewing, one of the things we really loved was the sense of community they’ve created; everything is nestled nicely together.  There’s the two bars, the reception barn, the mill barn, the garden courtyard and stunning manor house perfectly planned and set out to ensure guests are never milling in one space for the entire day (something we had found as wedding guests ourselves over the years that we didn’t really like).

The location

Launcells Barton ticked all of the boxes in terms of a location for our wedding.  At how many places can say you’re near the sea but still surrounded by beautifully unspoilt and wooded Cornish countryside? Many of the guests will be travelling from far and wide, so the fact that there’s easy access to the venue from no matter where you’re coming from; Ascot or Ilfracombe, was a big bonus for us.  As was the fact that there’s an amazing range of local accommodation within 10 minutes, meaning that many are able to make a real weekend of it!

A little bit of passion

We knew that the owners of the venue would play a big part in not only the wedding day but the journey in getting there, so for us it was kind of important that we really liked them.  Matt and Lara have a clear passion for the venue, and everything that they’ve created there in recent years, which really comes across when you first meet them.  They’ve been incredibly helpful in hooking us up with some of the best local suppliers, and tapping into their knowledge has definitely made planning life a lot easier!

If you’re currently planning your own wedding then this venue is definitely worth a visit!

Perfect Indian Summer’s day for this gorgeous wedding last October!

Last October we were blessed with gorgeous sunny days and Annie, Ben and all their guests enjoyed basking in the sunshine with a drink in their hand!

We met Annie and Ben a year previous to their wedding, they were so relaxed and easy going about their day, that we knew their day would be full of friends, family and lots of laughter!

Annie, Ben and a some very dedicated family members, decorated the venue the day before by hanging huge branches from the beams and filling them with gold leaves and festoon lighting to give a beautiful autumnal feel to their day.

Annie got ready in the Bridal Suite and looked stunning in a simple flowing gown. Kylee Marie perfected her hair with gold leaves to finish off a simple yet stunningly elegant look.

Ben enjoyed the sunshine with his ushers, welcoming guests as they arrived, before everyone took their seats in the Mill Barn ready for their ceremony.  The Cornish Celebrants conducted the couple’s ceremony, as they wanted to combine religious beliefs that were important to Annie’s family, along with personal touches and vows to make the ceremony perfectly personal to them.

It was then time for one of my favourite parts of the day; announcing the newlyweds into their wedding breakfast with all their friends and family cheering and clapping! Their meal was catered by one of our recommended suppliers Pickle Shack, with Woodfired Kitchen getting their oven going in the evening for pizzas.

After their speeches everyone hit the bar, before all their guests joined Annie and Ben for their cutting of the cake and first dance!

A few words from the gorgeous Bride– “There were so many reasons why we fell in love with Launcells Barton as a venue; the location, the beautiful house, the rustic snug bar, but not least Lara and Matt who were brilliant, laid back and reassuring throughout.  We didn’t have lots of ideas for our wedding before we started planning, but most important to us was that it was fun and relaxed. Dancing with my nieces to James Dixon’s incredible music, and drinking prosecco in the October sunshine will be a lasting memory!”

These stunning images are all thanks to one of our recommended photographers Travers and Brown. He has captured their fun filled, relaxed day perfectly!

Annie & Ben, it was a privilege to host your perfectly intimate day. It was perfectly you throughout and we wish you nothing but the best as you start your married life together!
