Back in March on a gorgeous Spring day, Laura and Simeon brought their friends and family from across Europe, together to celebrate with them in Cornwall!

Laura’s family are local to the area, while Simeon is originally from Germany. The couple met in London where they both now live and work, but wanted their special day in a part of the country that’s special to both of them.

As guests arrived for the ceremony Simeon welcomed everyone, before it was time for the Brides entrance!

Laura and Simeon had a family friend, who is also a pastor travel over from Vienna to conduct their ceremony, which had music joyously sang throughout!

After the ceremony as the sun was shinning, guests mingled outside enjoying pastries before gathering for family photos in front of the house.

As guests took their seats for their meal, which was all produced by Laura’s family farm, Laura and Simeon had a chance to catch up, just the 2 of them!

Laura and Simeons’ meal, was filled with games and laughter and was as relaxed as the 2 of them had been about planning their day. They just wanted all their loved ones with them to share these special moments, and that’s exactly what they had!

A few words from the Happy Couple-  “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who played a part in our wedding day. The idea of wedding planning seemed daunting, but it was important to us to share this big moment in our lives with our friends and family. We are so happy that we found a beautiful venue, where we could create a chilled environment for our guests to enjoy and where we had the flexibility to design a day that we loved. Lara, Matt and the Launcells Barton team were supportive every step of the way. Knowing all was in safe hands, meant we didn’t stress at all. We are so grateful to have such a special day to look back to”

A huge congratulations to Simeon and Laura as they settle into their new lives as a married couple! It was fantastic to meet all your guests that had traveled across Europe to share your special day with you and how welcoming they all were!

Back in April Georgie and Rich said their vows to one another on a beautiful Spring day surrounded by all their loved ones, but it wasn’t just the sun that was beaming that day!

Georgie got ready in the Manor house, while Rich stayed nearby, before making his way to the venue with his ushers to welcome all their guests in the snug bar as they arrived.

Georgie and her Bridesmaids made their way down the aisle in the Mill Barn to an eagerly awaiting Groom.

Everyone made their way out to the courtyard for confetti, welcome drinks and nibbles, while the fantastic, Swing Empire swing band had everyones’ toes tapping and incredible magician, Darren Campbell, amazed guests with his tricks! This was the perfect opportunity for Georgie and Rich to sneak off and steal their first moments together as Mr & Mrs!

Guests were then announced in to take their seats in the beautifully decorated Reception Barn. As always Bleujen worked their magic with greens, deep reds and candle light, bringing a romantic glamour to the barn.

After speeches, we quickly turned the barn around, to make room for their band and dance floor. The happy couple took the chance to go off for a wander around the farm, just the two of them, before joining their friends and family for their first dance!

A few words from the happy couple“We first found Launcells Barton on Instagram and instantly felt that this venue was different to so many of the other venues we had looked at and booked a viewing as soon as we could! We loved the fact that the venue was exclusive use, the ceremony and reception could be held in the same area, you could set up the venue the day before the wedding and then you could also have the bridal party stay for two nights in a beautiful house on site. When we first saw the venue, we had high expectations – and they were all completely lived up to and more! We were blown away by the sheer beauty of the venue but also felt completely relaxed in the good hands of Lara and her team and immediately felt that they were complete professionals and ready to make sure our day was exactly how we wanted it to be. Lara was always available to answer my questions in the lead up to the wedding and could not have been more helpful on the actual day making sure that the day ran smoothly from start to finish. All of the bar team were so friendly and helpful and we will treasure the photos we had on the tractor ride from Matt on our way to the top field for sunset! We were lucky to have some absolutely incredible suppliers which were mostly all recommended by Lara – this was so helpful considering we live 4 hours from Bude! Ourselves, the whole bridal party and all of our guests were made to feel so very welcome throughout our whole experience at Launcells. We can honestly say that our wedding day was the best day of our lives and we really cannot thank Lara, Matt and their wonderful team enough for helping to make our wedding day so very special. Thank you for everything”

Georgie and Rich, It was an absolute pleasure getting to know you both throughout your time planning your wedding with us and it was incredible to be a part of a special day that was shared by so many lovely friends and family! We wish you both nothing but happiness as you start your new lives as Mr & Mrs Fields!

Back in December, on a bright Winter’s day Ailsa and Phil, along with the help of their two little girls tied the knot in front of all their friends and family!

If ever people think they can’t organise a wedding in under a year, Ailsa and Phil are perfect proof that it can be done and planned to perfection with no detail missed! Having given themselves only 4 months due to Phil’s leave from the Marines!

I have to admit I do love a Winter wedding, just as much as I love a Summer wedding! Yes you don’t always know what the weather is going to do, but as long as you have inside and outside options, it doesn’t really matter. Winter and Summer are just very different weddings, but both have their charms! A Winter wedding the sun sets earlier, so you get all the atmosphere of the candles flickering away, guests all cosy inside with hot mulled wine and, if you can’t add a bit of sparkle at Christmas, then when can you?!  Ailsa and Phil’s wedding was all those things and more!

Ailsa got ready in the house with her friends and two little girls by her side, while Phil got into his uniform with all his friends at the couple’s house. Ailsa had the most stunning beaded grey dress from Needle and Thread and her bridesmaids wore mix matched 3/4 length grey, white and pink dresses which fitted the laid back feel of the wedding perfectly.  The bridal party’s make up was perfected by one of our faves and recommended supplier Lizzy Couch.

The groomsmen soon arrived and welcomed guests in the Snug Bar, before everyone began to take their seats.

Ailsa was walked down the aisle by her Dad, while her Bridesmaids walked down the aisle with the couple’s two little girls.

Guests were then offered Mulled Wine and Cider in the Snug Bar, while the newlyweds had a bit of time together before being welcomed back into the Mill Barn for speeches and a few surprises!

The couple’s speeches were really relaxed and very personal, with the Groom even singing a song he’d written for his new Wife!

Guests were then asked to make their way to the reception barn, while Ailsa & Phil had a bit of time with their family.

I had a very special little helper get all the guests up on their feet by clinking the glass, ready to announce the newlyweds for the first time to all their friends and family!

Their guests enjoyed slow roast beef with all the trimmings provided by The Woodfired Kitchen, before they got the pizza oven all fired up serving mini calzone pizzas throughout the whole evening. They were such a fantastic take on the traditional Cornish pastie!

Rebecca Roundhill one of our recommended suppliers and all round fabulous photographer captured all these beautiful images for Ailsa & Phil’s day. It’s so great having Rebecca with us during a wedding, she is a burst of sunshine and is just so relaxed- which is what years of experience brings!

A few words from Ailsa- I’m struggling with where to start, because it’s so difficult to put into words just how wonderful our day was. From the moment we met Lara and looked around the venue, there was no question that we were going to get married there. It really is a hidden gem. We live 3 minutes away and never even knew it existed. It had everything we wanted from a venue; a beautiful space for our ceremony in the Mill Barn, a large reception Barn for our guests to eat and be merry, a picturesque setting for capturing stunning photos, and a gorgeous farmhouse with the most amazing bridal suite you will ever see! That bathroom!

You’d think that only giving ourselves 4 months to plan our wedding would be stressful. But, I can honestly say that I enjoyed every second of the organisation. Communication between ourselves and Lara was excellent and any questions we had were promptly answered.
The day itself was just perfect. Being a December wedding we almost expected bad weather. Every part of our day was inside or undercover so, rain or shine, it really didn’t matter. However, we woke up to blue skies and pink clouds over the farmhouse. It looked beautiful!

One of the best things about the venue is that it is so flexible. Whatever your vision for your wedding, I’m pretty sure it can be achieved here. We had a very relaxed, informal ceremony and we chose to do the speeches immediately after with canapes and welcome drinks in the Mill Barn, rather than during the wedding breakfast. We also had bag pipes during the ceremony, a speech delivered using a guitar and a Scottish Ceilidh in the evening. Anything is possible here!

Throughout the day Matt, Lara and their team behind the scenes made sure that everything ran smoothly. If there were any hiccups we really had no idea because we were just enjoying ourselves so much! Thank you Matt, Lara and team for all the hard work that went into making such special memories for Phil and I. We couldn’t have asked for more. I highly recommend Launcells Barton as a wedding venue: It’s beautiful, flexible, and Lara and Matt are dedicated to making your day as carefree and memorable as possible!

Ailsa and Phil’s wedding was totally relaxed and reflected them as a couple perfectly, incorporating their young family, Ailsa’s scottish roots and Phil’s duty to the Marine’s, making every special moment personal to them. We wish Ailsa and Phil a fantastic future together and sure we will see you out and about as your young family grows!

If you’d like more information on holding your wedding at Launcells Barton, then please do give us a call on 01288 352352 and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

At the end of October, Storm Brian rampaged through Cornwall, sending fences and furniture flying across the farm. With the storm in full swing and Brian giving everything he’d got, not even the sideways rain and 70 mph winds could wipe the smiles from Charlotte and Dan’s faces on their wedding day!

We first met Charlotte and Dan at our Open Day event last year. we only had a muddy hole and an artists impression of what the new Reception Barn was going to look like to show them.  After being taken with the renovations already completed, they set their date and quickly got on with planning their autumn wedding!

Charlotte, Dan and all their family and friends arrived the day before to decorate and set up. Everybody was laughing and joking and enjoying time together seeing all their plans taking shape! I loved chatting to Charlotte as she excitedly showed all the little touches she had put together, including the stunning artwork of the house that she had commissioned for the table plans, menus and order of service!

The Reception barn was dressed so elegantly with greenery and fairy lights hanging from beams and draped around the dinning area.  Each table was dressed with candles in mix & match gold holders and vases of flowers filled with soft pinks, creams and greenery. The candles and fairy lights looked wonderful, as by the time guests sat down for the wedding breakfast, the sun was setting and the candles created a gorgeously soft lighting.  All of the beautiful flowers were supplied by one of our faves and local florist Bleujen.

Charlotte got ready, on the blustery autumn morning, within the house surrounded by friends and family. Hannah Woodgates Hair Design & Laura Le Page Make Up, took care of beautifying all the bridal party! While Dan and his friends got ready at Penleaze, just a stones throw away from Launcells Barton.

I walked into the house to check on the Bridal party and was welcomed by the most stunning Bride standing in the hall surrounded by all her friends! Charlotte literally took my breath away and was beaming ear to ear!

After announcing for all their guests to take their seats in the Mill Barn and the Groom and ushers waiting nervously for the Bride to arrive, we looked out of the main doors looking for any let up from the elements! It was decided that we just had to make a dash for it, all hands were on deck to make sure the Bride and her dress were safe from the wind and rain!

The Obligato String Quartet played as Charlotte walked down the Aisle to her eagerly awaiting Groom.

We turned the Mill Barn around for the couples drinks reception and thought it was best to work around the guests this time, as some of them may have been blown away, if they had ventured to the snug bar!

It was then a quick run to the house for the couple and their bridal party for a few pictures, while guests took their seats in the Reception Barn.

The happy couple were welcomed in with cheers and applause from all their guests as we announced their Bride & Groom!

Pickle Shack provided the most wonderful catering before the speeches got underway.

It was then on to dancing and … human pyramids!

Depict Photography who shoot mainly on film captured these gorgeous images to create these beautiful memories for Charlotte and Dan!

A few words from Charlotte-  Dan and I first visited Launcells Barton on a rainy January afternoon and were immediately taken with Lara and Matt’s enthusiasm and the sheer beauty of the venue. At the time the main barn was just a building site, but we could see how beautiful is was going to be and fell in love with the main house and reception barn. We knew it was the perfect venue for the relaxed feel we wanted but also enough of a blank canvas that we could make it our own. All the time, money and effort planning was completely worth it on the day – despite having an uninvited guest in the form of ‘Storm Brian’ with his gale force winds and driving rain…! Luckily Launcells Barton proved the perfect choice and the weather was soon forgotten as the beauty of the venue is as much about its interior as its exterior – a quality we had struggled to find at other venues.  Lara & Matt coordinated and supported us through the day perfectly alongside our caterers Pickleshack – who couldn’t stop gushing about the amazing kitchen! One thing that was really important to me was that the evening had a good ‘flow’, I really wanted to avoid a venue where guests were segregated into different rooms depending on whether they were at the bar, relaxing or dancing and the main barn was perfect for this – after our meal the bar doors were thrown open and everyone danced the night away no matter where they were. I honestly couldn’t fault the entire weekend and would do it all again in a heartbeat – rain included! Thank you so much to Lara, Matt and the rest of the Launcells team for helping us create the wedding of our dreams!

The whole weekend was full of laughter and their positivity shone through, never letting the elements stop them from enjoying their weekend and always seeing the best of everything! I can even remember a hashtag being used to tell storm Brian exactly what they thought of him!! It was a pleasure to be involved in such a welcoming and joyous day and wish Charlotte and Dan nothing but happiness for their future together, we’re sure the balance of Charlotte’s creativity and Dan’s practicality is set to make the perfect partnership!

In October we saw the beautiful autumnal wedding of John and Carly who we first met last year, before the new Reception Barn was yet to see any of it’s foundations laid. Carly grew up on a farm herself and wanted that countryside feel for their wedding. Luckily, being used to rural life meant they could see past all the mud as renovations got underway!

John is a master distiller and recreated the original recipe of Trevethan Cornish Gin from the 1920’s, bringing it back to life and giving it the iconic art deco look you see today!

John & Carly’s close friends and family helped them set up the day before their wedding, so on the morning of their wedding, Carly and John only had worry about getting ready and enjoying their big day!

The ceremony was held in the Mill Barn and was decorated simply with lanterns lining the aisle and small bud vases filled with flowers on the registrar table, gorgeous for an October wedding and the duskier light.

Once Craig Chapman had put the finishing touches to Carly’s hair and make up, it was then time for the bridal party to make their way to the ceremony! Carly’s Bridesmaids and all the Groomsmen were in navy and burgundy, which was just perfect for their autumnal wedding and brought Carly’s stunning beaded blush gown out beautifully!

The sun was just popping it’s head out after the ceremony, so guests were able to go outside into the courtyard and garden to enjoy their welcome drinks reception, and what else would you expect the newlyweds to offer their guests other than a G&T made with their own amazing gin!

The newlyweds even snuck off for some time to themselves!

It was then time to ask their guests to make their way to the reception barn for their meal! John & Carly kept everything really simple with fairy lights draped across the beams and Bleujen popped in on the morning of their wedding and styled the tables with church candles and foliage, with subtle navy touches.

Rocs Catering rustled up a beautiful BBQ style wedding breakfast for everyone, with guests being able to help themselves from the sharing platters.

After speeches- where tears of laughter rolled down my eyes from the Father of the Brides speech! Everyone mingled in the bar while their band Riviera dogs set up for the evening! Everyone was up on the dance floor singing and dancing the night away, to all the classics!

A few words from the happy couple John and I both grew up within an hour of Bude and we wanted a venue that epitomised both my rural upbringing and Johns love of the countryside. Launcells Barton did just that. The amazing view from the front of the house across fields and fields of Cornish countryside was the first thing that struck us as we pulled up for our first viewing. The Farm House and the surrounding Barns were also beautifully renovated but still in keeping with its farming history. On the day Lara and Matt were the perfect hosts, allowing us enough space to conduct our Wedding just how we had imagined it; but never be too far away if we needed help and assistance. The planning and timing on the day was perfect and it made such a difference having Lara on hand to make sure we didn’t miss a thing. We wouldn’t have changed one single thing about the entire weekend.

Congratulations to John and Carly, we wish you every happiness in your married
life together!

These gorgeous images were all snapped by Rachel Amos Photography.

And here it is! our very last wedding of 2016 and
what a wedding it was to end on!

Kate and Geoff live just around the corner from Launcells Barton, with the place holding a special place in Kate’s heart. After finding out shortly after getting engaged that we were renovating the farm to offer weddings, Kate and Geoff knew straight away that they wanted their wedding here!

Kate and Geoff first met or rather spoke 6 years ago, when Geoff rang kate’s office with a business enquiry. He was smitten straight away with the friendly, charming girl on the end of the phone, but it wasn’t until months later, at a party, that Geoff discovered that he was speaking to the same girl that he had taken a shine to on the phone months earlier!

With the couple having a rather large wedding guest list and the New Events Barn not opening until 2017, Kate and Geoff asked if they could have a marquee for their wedding breakfast and use the grounds and Mill Barn for their welcome drinks reception, as well as the house for their close family and friends to stay. It was a pleasure working with Kate and Geoff as they were so relaxed and had complete faith in our vision for the place, popping in every few months to see the progress.

Kate and Geoff’s family and friends all got really stuck in and helped the couple to set up before the wedding. They even raided Kate’s mum’s garden of all her potted plants to decorate the entrance to the marquee!. I love that the couple included all guests in their day, even the little ones by giving them their own “kids corner”
Kate had a tree that had fallen down and she wanted to use the branches as a canopy in the marquee. All her friends and family were drafted in to strip the branches of leaves and although it took at least a day to do, the result was simply breathtaking! The lovely ladies from Bleujen Florists brought the place to life by styling the branches and tables with beautiful blooms. All I heard as people walked in was “WOW!!”

Geoff got ready at his home, while Kate got ready surrounded by her family, bridesmaids and some rather cute flower girls. It was so relaxed with everyone laughing, joking and enjoying a glass of bubbly as they got ready!

Just as Kate was about to leave the house and make her way to the church, the heavens opened and it tipped down with rain. I just couldn’t let that beautiful dress get wet, so picked up the dress and assisted Kate to the car as I knew her Bridemaids were already waiting down in the church for her. I asked Kate if she would like me to run down and meet her at the church to help her out, but Kate simply said “don’t be silly, get in the car with us” It was an honour to be in the bridal car and enjoy that special moment as the Bride made her way to the church with her father. As Kate made it to the church door and I was just about to run back up to Launcells Barton to make sure the welcome drinks were being set up, Kate asked if I would like to stay and watch the ceremony! It was an absolute pleasure to watch such a wonderful couple saying their vows to one another!

Not only had the couple been busy organising their wedding this year, but also opening a brand new garage workshop just across the road from Launcells Barton. With the garage being such a massive part of their lives, they wanted to include their business in their day, so after the ceremony Kate and Geoff drove their beautiful red vintage Porshe to the garage, for some time, just the two of them! I simply adore the photos in the workshop!

While the couple enjoyed some time alone, guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the courtyard and Mill Barn, with the Bride and Groom joining them soon after for a glass of fizz!

As the guests made their way through the garden into the marquee, it gave the Bride and Groom the perfect chance to take a moment together, before heading over to be welcomed by their guests!

Oaktree Occasions provided the catering and really made the whole meal so much fun! Each table was served a whole roast joint, but it was up to the designated carver on each table who wore their own apron and chefs hat, to serve each guest. We were lucky enough to be offered a plate full and I can honestly say that I haven’t tasted a roast that good in a very long time! It was amazing and certainly got us ready to welcome another 150 guests to the evening!

Kate and Geoff’s vision for their wedding, was very simple. They wanted great food and to keep the drinks flowing, with fantastic company! Well they certainly achieved that! The day had a fantastic atmosphere and Kate and Geoff were beaming all day! It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of the wedding and the lead up to it. With family and friends even welcoming both Matt and I to enjoy aspects of the day with them! We wish Kate and Geoff all the happiness in the world as they start their married life together!

Beautiful caramel drizzled cake by Hannah’s Cornish Cakes.

The beautiful images that you see are all thanks to Pete Cox Photography. He captured the couple and the day just perfectly with his natural, relaxed approach to photography.

A few words from Kate:We fell in love with Launcells Barton at our first viewing. The owners, Matthew and Lara, have put so much love and effort into creating the most perfect of wedding venues. Relaxed, yet efficient, they put you at ease with their willingness to please and friendly can-do attitude. Nothing is too much trouble and they are on hand to help and advise from the day you book, right up to your wedding day.  Throughout the actual day, Matthew and Lara made sure that all aspects ran smoothly with no disruption to ourselves or our guests. Lara even got soaked helping me into the car whilst it was raining so that my dress and I stayed dry. “It’s been almost month now since our wedding and we’re still receiving comments from our friends and family complimenting Launcells Barton on their fabulous service and striking setting. We really did have the best weekend, above and beyond all our expectations.”

Who says you need to get married in the Summer? With beautiful autumn colours and crisp winter days you can still have your perfect day whatever the time of year!

The majority of people think that summer is the only time of year to get married. With British weather being notoriously bad during the rest of the year, an autumn or winter wedding seems like a bad idea. However, that just isn’t true! Your big day can
take place any time and still be a wonderful and beautiful event.

At Launcells Barton, we’ve made sure that our venue is suitable for weddings all year round. So whether you’re after a winter wedding or a summer ceremony, we can help.

So what makes us an all-season wedding venue?

Multiple buildings

We have a choice of three indoor locations for you to say “I do”. Regardless of the weather outside, inside you and your guests will be warm, dry and having a wonderful time.
For intimate ceremonies the manor house is the ideal venue and for larger parties, the mill barn is perfect, without fear of the season interrupting your special moment.

Blank canvas

Launcells Barton is a blank canvas. You can decorate it as you wish, which means that it’s appearance and style is completely compatible with seasonal stylings.
A winter wonderland can easily be created in the same space that hosted a summer festival theme wedding. There really are no limits on what you can do!

Outdoor options

If the heavens aren’t opening, then there’s always the option to have an outdoor ceremony at Launcells Barton. Even in the autumn, winter, and spring months we have days without rain, so wrap up and tie the knot in our beautiful walled garden.
Tended all year round with seasonal plants, the walled garden is the perfect setting to exchange vows and take photos.

Rooms filled with light

Whilst you may not be lucky enough to have a dry day, our mill barn allows you to bring the outdoors indoors on your wedding day.
Large French doors let natural light flood the room, making it feel open and airy, even if it is tipping it down outside.

Extra space

We are lucky enough to have 220 acres for you to enjoy! If you are opting to get married in the warmer months or don’t mind wrapping up for an autumnal evening and want to make the most of the outside, then why not treat your guests to an open wood- fired oven on the field in front of the events barn? Your guests can enjoy some delicious food while watching the sunset behind the rolling countryside. Beautiful!

Whatever time of year, your wedding will be personal to the both of you!
